The novel begins with our protagonist, Dana arriving at Incheon International Airport feeling a mix of emotions - excitement for the adventure ahead of her, curiosity about what life in Korea will be like and a little bit of fear due to the unfamiliarity of it all.
Dana is greeted by a kind Korean family who drives her to her share house. It is a modest apartment on the outskirts of Seoul that she is sharing with two other students from abroad, both of whom are studying in Korea. She quickly realizes that living in a share house isn't as bad as she thought it would be and begins to feel more comfortable with the new arrangement.
The next day, Dana explores the city and takes in all of its sights and sounds. She also begins to explore the local cuisine, particularly enjoying her first meal of sundaeguk - a traditional Korean dish made up of dumplings filled with vegetables and seafood. She is amazed by the diverse flavors she experiences and can't help but feel excited for the new culinary journey she is embarking on.
As the days pass, Dana continues to explore Seoul and its surroundings. She visits palaces, temples, museums, parks, and other historical sites - all of which give her a deeper appreciation for Korean culture and history. She also makes friends with locals and other foreigners living in Korea who help her learn even more about the country and its people.
Slowly but surely, Dana starts to feel at home in Korea - a place that was once so unfamiliar to her. She finds herself growing more confident and independent with each passing day as she embarks on her journey of self-discovery through exploration.
The novel ends with Dana reflecting on all that she has learned and experienced in her time in Korea. Despite the challenges she faced along the way, she comes away feeling accomplished and more confident in her ability to take on any challenge life throws at her.
