Firewater

1019 Words
I ran down the length of the hallway that leads to the underground dungeon. My uncle Hawk was likely helping get information. That seemed to be his daily, minus teaching swordplay. I burst through the second set of doors to see my uncle walking out of a smaller room with blood splatter. That type of look was normal. "Uncle!" I was rushed and loud. I skidded to a stop. "We gotta go there is something bad about to happen on the royal training grounds." I turned and didn't even look back as I ran through the next few sets of doors. I knew he was right on my heels. We burst through the side door that was a shortcut to the training grounds. I could smell the fire. s**t, had he already started, or was this new? My uncle has changed to his Cocademon form and was bounding forward faster than me now. He knew that Amber was there. "You go!" I shouted behind him as he pushed to his full speed. I stopped long enough to let Tys take over. My clothes are in shreds at my feet. Tys took off where my uncle's beast had gone. I heard screaming but this I didn't recognize. I pushed harder to make the top of the hill. There I saw the warrior burning and Amber and Adele putting Athens fire out. Scanning the area I found the man wiggling slightly in my Uncle's beast's jaws. My sister and Tau ran up with me. We walked down to where my Uncle laid him on the ground. He was bleeding profusely out of wounds on his abdomen. "Who are you?" Snarled my sister Jewel. None of us recognized him, as we watched the life slowly leaving his body. He made not try to say anything either. Adele walked next to me. She waved her hand whispering some words, the man rose above the air the blood stopped moving and he looked even more pained. "Speak while your life is paused before death," Adele growled. "My name is Firewater. I was hired to kill as many as possible before she comes to take your throne." The man gurgled out. "Who is she?" My sister growled. The man's body cracked. He shouted out in a way that sent shivers down my spine. I looked to see Adele had broken his back with a hand movement. "She is another royal southern wolf of your father's he had kept hidden. She is trained by Tvso too." I watched his head rotate some and heard the snap. I looked at my sister. Tvso was the royal dragon who had lied to her about being mates and tried to kill her at each turn. His head was mounted on the wall in the main dining hall. "How cute," my sister the Queen snorted. I saw a hint of smoke leave her nostrils as she turned to go. Tys grinned while I chuckled in his head. My dad Joe said the same line many times. I looked up at Adele. When did you learn that? I asked. I am not sure, I went with instinct. Adele shrugged. She ran her hand along the top of my head with a faint smile. I knew she had more to say but, Athens darted past us. His hand shoved into the chest cavity of the dead man. Yanking the heart out he began to eat with gusto. His healing was starting but he needed to eat to get it faster. "Thanks, dark and sexy," Athens spoke between mouthfuls of heart. "Yep," My uncle walked past us to find Amber he hugged and nuzzled them like it was the last thing on earth. I turned to head back to my room, I needed clothes and there were some shorts hidden in the tree nearby I could use. I stopped just behind the tree changed and pulled on the shorts. Athens had finished the heart and was healing quicker now. "I am guessing you had a vision," Uncle Hawk came to stand near me. "Yes," I watched them clear the body and clean the blood up. "Did I die?" Athens asked solemnly. "I didn't watch all the way." I paused then added, " I think you may have." I looked in his direction to see him thinking hard. "Thank you," Athens spoke with conviction before turning back to look at Amber and Adele. "Snap snap ladies back to training we go!" He clapped his hands and flicked them back to where they had been to work magic. "Was that the only one you saw?" My uncle Hawk stood on the other side. He was watching Amber intently. "No, she was hurt too." I followed his gaze. "But I had a feeling the goddess wanted me to know because of her status." I looked back at his features to see their stone cold. "Likely the only reason Athens is still alive." My Uncle surmised. I nodded silently. I didn't want to be the one to say it out loud. "Do you think Jewel will handle this new threat well?" I looked back at him. "I have no doubts about your sister. She will win." He turned about to leave the ground again. He paused long enough to get close. His eyes red-ringed, "if not I can always intervene." He gave me a lopsided smirk with a wink. I grinned. I couldn't help it. When had my Uncle picked up a sense of humor? It was pretty awesome to see. ********** Greetings Readers! I have been working on something fun for everyone. A P.a.t.r.e.o.n. account.
