Hello!
Thanks for checking out my new story, The Wicked Alpha's Star-Crossed Luna. Now that the prologue has been posted, I wanted to share some basic info for this story, as it is set in a different universe than all my other stories, but some of the in-universe rules are the same. I'll also share basic profiles for the main characters and their friends; once the love interests (yes, plural, as there are two main characters) come into play, I'll share profiles for them and their closest friends/supporting characters as well.
Please note: if you prefer to go in blind and learn about the universe as the story unfolds, feel free to skip this episode and move on to Chapter 1. Things will still be explained (in an albeit more eloquent manner) along the way. I just wanted to include this since some readers like very specific tropes.
Universe Rules
In this universe, werewolves are the dominant, most populated species, followed by witches and faeries. Vampires are considered villains in the eyes of most species. Other shifters, such as werecats, bears, avians, and different foxes exist; merfolk and sirens are rumored to exist but are widely considered myth. This is a separate realm from the human realm, so there are no humans here. All supernatural beings exist in this world and have access to human knowledge and entertainment. Their technology is contemporary and incorporates magick in some instances. Each supernatural species has their own governing body; werewolves have a monarchy, with a royal lineage that is stronger than other wolves.
Let's focus on werewolves:
★ Werewolves get their wolves after reaching puberty. This can happen anytime between 10-14 years old and varies by individual.
★ Birthdays work differently. Each month is named after its full moon. If asked when they were born, wolves give out their birthmoon, AKA their birth month's full moon. Specific dates of birth are considered very private info shared only within families and close friends. A pre-teen can only shift for the first time under their birthmoon.

★ Age of adulthood is 18, but age of maturity is 21. This means that all wolves are considered independent adults by 18 years old, but aren't allowed to hold rank until after they turn 21. They also start feeling the pull of the mate bond up to a month before their 21st birthday, but their wolf won't be able to confirm the bond until both parties are 21 years old.
★ Chosen mates, contract marriages, breeders, and second chance mates exist.
★ Gender doesn't always decide whether a wolf inherits/earns a rank. In most newer, larger packs, females can be Alpha. The male version of a Luna is a Lunar.
★ Rank doesn't dictate the size or color of the wolf, lineage/genetics do(es).
★ Werewolf Ranks/Types
Ranks: ROYALS > ALPHAS/LUNAS > BETAS > GAMMAS > DELTAS > EPSILON
Other titles/delineations: elders, zetas, omegas, rogues, sigmas
☆ Royals are direct descendants of the first alpha from the original wolf pack.
☆ Elders are retired alphas (and in some cases, retired betas/gammas with exceptional records) that are part of a council that gives advice on, enforces, and investigates crimes that go against pack law.
☆ Alpha, Beta, and Gamma titles are passed down to their firstborns. If a ranked wolf has no children, or their only available children are deemed unfit to hold rank, then a beta or gamma can be decided by tournament. Alphas are only usurped when the Alpha is defeated in a one-on-one challenge.
☆ Delta and Epsilon ranks are always chosen by the Alpha and are decided by tournament. Head warriors and trainers.
☆ Zeta position is chosen by the Luna. Basically a personal assistance/packhouse spokeperson hired from the main, unranked pack members.
☆ Omegas are the smallest and weakest wolves in a pack and require the most protection. They do all the cooking, cleaning, laundry, and serving in the packhouse and can be hired by largeich families as maids, nannies, and gardeners. Packhouse omegas are led by the head omega who negotiates pay/benefits on their behalf.
☆ Wolves go rogue for various reasons; if a rogue wolf gathers enough rogues to make a pack to lead, that "alpha" is called a sigma and is considered the worst in the werewolf world.
★ Lunas are the heart and soul of the pack, and Alphas are the leaders. Betas are the alpha's second-in-command, Gammas are the luna's second-in-command, Deltas and Epsilon are the beta's second and third-in-command, and if the mates of ranked members are skilled warriors then they are enlisted as part of the luna's security detail.
★ Hybrids are rare in packs located closer to the kingdom's capital, but live closer to the outskirts and are more common outside the kingdom. This is because werewolf DNA is so dominant, hybrids with most other species show minimal difference. Only vampire-werewolf hybrids are noticeably different; these hybrids are incredibly strong, powerful, virtually indestructible and have a higher chance of going feralogue, so these hybrids have been outlawed in most kingdoms. Half-humans of any species are virtually unseen.

There is a time jump between the prologue and the first chapter. Ages shown below are from chapter 1 on.

☆ Fun fact: named after the original English-dubbed Sailor Moon
Main character, primary POV. Carina's twin, technically the eldest, and is the future alpha of the Starry Sky Pack. Strong, level-headed, great warrior. Pronounced seh-reh-NAH. (Soften the 'r' until your tongue is barely brushing against the roof of your mouth, it should sound almost like a soft 'd'.)
★ Carina "Cari" Vespera, 20 years old
☆ 5 ft 2 in / 135 lbs.
☆ Appearance: light tawny complexion with warm coral undertones, waist-length curly black hair, green eyes
☆ Birthmoon: Wolf
☆ Zodiac equivalent: Capricorn
☆ Fun fact: Cari is also the nickname of the MC of my other story, Witch Seeking Undead Girlfriend (Caricia)
Other main character, secondary POV. Serena's twin, daughter of the alpha and luna of Starry Sky but isn't slated to hold any rank. Easily fatigued, easily flustered, magickal healer. Pronounced cah-REE-nah. ('R' is pronounced the same as in Serena, see above.)
★ Callisto "Cal" Knight, 20 years old
☆ 6 ft 2 in / 220 lbs.
☆ Appearance: deep umber complexion with warm golden undertones, short curly black hair, brown eyes
☆ Birthmoon: Wolf
☆ Zodiac equivalent: Capricorn
☆ Fun fact: Callisto is the name of a nymph that accompanied Artemis on hunts before getting seduced by Zeus and being turned into a she-bear. It's also the name of Jupiter's second-largest moon, is almost the size of the planet Mercury.
Supporting character. The twins' childhood friend and next in line to be beta. Closer to Serena than Carina. Playful, worrier, loyal protector. Pronounced cuh-LIH-stow.
★ Sutara "Tara" Howard, 21 years old
☆ 5 ft 7 in / 135 lbs.
☆ Appearance: smooth terra-cotta with warm copper undertones, knee-length straight black hair, brown eyes
☆ Birthmoon: Song
☆ Zodiac equivalent: Libra
☆ Fun fact: Tara is the Hindu goddess of felicity and consort to the god of the planet Jupiter.
Supporting character. The sister of Gamma Ravi. The twins' childhood friend, only daughter of the former gammas. Closer to Carina than Serena. Risk-taker, flirtatious, dignified friend. Pronounced SOO-truh.
★ Gamma Ravi Howard, 24 years old
☆ 6 ft / 200 lbs.
☆ Appearance: rich terra-cotta with bronze undertones, short straight black hair, brown eyes
☆ Birthmoon: Crow
☆ Zodiac equivalent: Pisces
☆ Fun fact: the name Ravi means "sun" in Sanskrit.
Supporting character. Gamma of the Starry Sky Pack, older brother to Tara and friend to Serena and Callisto. Honest to a fault, apologetic, fearless warrior. Pronounced rah-VEE.
