Chapter 9: Cheerleader Jealousy

K I A R A ' S P.O.V The sun peeked in through my open blinds and caused me to stir. Yawning and stretching my entire body, I slowly got up. The clock read seven, and I silently cursed whoever invented schools, as I begrudgingly got out of bed. A cold shower to wake me up sounded perfect, so I quickly stripped and allowed the cool water to jolt me awake. I paired my short mini skirt with cropped white polo shirt and some velvet black boots. Circling my eyes with dark eyeliner, I grabbed my oversized jumper and pulled it overhead to conceal my outfit. My hair was tied back into a low ponytail and I groaned as another wave of my headache hit me. I'm never drinking again. I glanced down to see the small paper I was given yesterday, lying on my desk in plain view. Grabbing it, I walked over to my closet and reach to the back, pulling out my black box. A box filled with treasured memories and darkest secrets. It was filled to the brim with pictures of me and Tristan, capturing the time when our relationship was perfect. Pulling out the top photos, I smiled softly and brushed over the faces of the happy couple. That was one of the best days of my life. The time he made it snow. 25th December 2018 I awoke to bright summer day, except it wasn't summer, it was winter. More specifically Christmas Day and I was home, alone with only two bodyguards for company. I should have been in snowy London, listening to the carollers sing Merry tunes and laughing with my family. Instead I was forced to stay locked up in my house, due to a very severe bug that decided to attack my immune system and cause me an immeasurable amount of pain. My parents decided to call off the trip but when the doctor assured them it would soon pass, I told them to go. My mother desperately wanted to see her parents, despite trying to persuade me otherwise, and of course wherever my mother goes, my father follows. Kieron, like the lovely big brother he is, offered to stay but I knew he secretly wished to visit his long distance fling and Kalen and Kai were just d***s who wanted to leave me alone. My room stank of vomit, the smell almost causing me to wretch again. I left my room and padded downstairs, when something caught my eye. It was snow. Lots of it too. Curiously, I slowly walked towards the open patio doors and pushed them open. The green grass, was covered with a blanket of white, and my eyes lit up as I saw the Christmas lights that were strung across the yard. My incredibly sexy boyfriend of two months was leaning against a bright red telephone booth and he pointed to my right. Just like that, a group of carollers began to sing their hearts out and I noticed the serval snow machines scattered around me. Running forward, I jumped into his arms and giggled as he spun me around. Pecking my lips, he pulled away and grinned. "Do you like it?" I gave him a look of disbelief. "I love it! You did this for me?" I was already falling for him then, but this move just made me fall even deeper. "Of course baby-girl, I would give you the world if it meant I could this gorgeous smile." He beamed, squeezing my chubby cheeks. "I think I'm in love with you." It just left my mouth, without even a thought, and before I could retract my statement he kissed me hard. "My beautiful Kiara, I love you too." He murmured against my lips, causing me to smile. I reached into my pocket and grabbed my phone to capture the perfect moment. The moment where we confessed our love. It really was a magical Christmas, probably the best I had ever had. I pushed aside my reminiscent thoughts and stuffed the box back into my wardrobe. With a sigh, I walked down stairs and into the kitchen, stuffing an apple into my bag for later. Tristan was stood by the car when I made walked outside and silently nodded, before opening up the back door. I frowned in confusion yet he kept a stoic look on his face and refused to meet my intense gaze. Scoffing, I slid in and stared at the back of his gorgeous head as he drove me to school. "I'll be waiting." Was all I heard, as I climbed out of the car and walked off. As if last night was traumatic for him, I was the one who got f*****g rejected. Me! I thought he wanted me, maybe it really was too good to be true? "Hey Kia," Tessa drawled as I ran into her open arms. I wanted to cry, scream, shout but instead I kept quiet. Tristan would not hurt me again. "Come on, apparently there's this big announcement that the headmistress is going to say in the assembly. Let's hope it's good!" She squealed, as we took our usual seats at the back. The rest of the girls came flooding in, buzzing in excitement and chattering loudly. The headmistress in all her glory, put a cease to the noise as soon as she walked in. Her silver streaked hair was tied back into a low bun, and her outfit surprisingly complimented her slender figure. Clearing her throat, she leant against the podium and smiled. "Welcome girls, I trust you had a good weekend. I called this assembly to inform you all that due to the closure of our partner school, St Joseph's, their students will be joining us starting from next week." Everyone immediately burst out into chatter, excited at the prospect of boys coming to the school. I simply rolled my eyes and continued to stare at my nails. "Settle down!" The crowd went silent. "Now, this is an all girls school and of course, St Joseph's is an all boys school, so clearly there may be some issues but we have to ensure that they all feel welcome and valued to be apart of our community." "I'll definitely make them feel welcome, with my mouth maybe?" Tessa whispered, causing me to snicker. "Let's show them how great St Mary's girls really are! Thank you, you may now go to your first class." *** The next few lessons were complete torture. I had to listened on and on to girls fawning over Tristan, who thought it was a good idea to take of his jacket and lounge on top of his car, like some sort of model. I almost snapped my pencil as Missy Booth went into extreme detail of how she would f**k my ex-boyfriend. It was vile really. They were all acting like lions and Tristan was lonely gazelle, just waiting for someone to snatch him up and devour him whole. From the sounds of it, the whole school wanted a piece of him. Lunch was chance to let my murderous thoughts drift away as Tessa told me the story of her parent's trivial arguments this morning over who finished all the soap. I laughed at how stupid the entire thing was but secretly I was jealous. Envious of the love Tessa's parents have for each other. I craved the look they gave each other, the stupid meaningless fights they have, the love they share. Is it stupid of me to want that? To want love? Maybe it is but, a part of me can't help but continue to hold out hope for something similar in the future. As if the universe wanted me to hate my life, Natasha, the head cheerleader, came prancing over to me. A sickeningly sweet smile was plastered over her face and I watched as she fought to grimace in my direction. "Practice is during fifth period, be there, or you're off the team." I rolled my eyes, as if cheerleading would be my first priority right now. "Please you know I'm better than you." "Yeah but unlike you I show up. Be there." With the flick of her she stormed away, her posse of idiots following closely behind. I joined the cheerleading team around three years ago. Tristan was actually the one to persuade me to join, and I did. For a while I actually enjoyed it, but then he broke up with me, and I fell into this downward spiral. I traded backflips for drinking. And in turn, got kicked off the stupid team. Recently though I got my position back after Mary Jenkins broke her leg doing the pyramid. The weird thing was though that a part of me was actually excited to go to practice. Even if the girls there were all first class bitches. *** During fifth period I went straight to the changing rooms and somehow managed to squeeze into my old uniform. I expected to see the girls all warming up but instead they were flocked around something, drooling like a bunch of water deprived animals. And of course, in the centre was none other than Tristan Rose. The shameless flirt who was causing the entire squad to giggle and blush. Pushing past them all, I grabbed his arm and yanked him off to the side. The girls groaned but got the message to leave us alone, after I sent them a deathly glare. "Why the f**k are you here?" Shrugging, a smirk started to crawl up his face. "I was invited." I narrowed my eyes at him and scoffed. "By who?" "Me." Natasha purred, appearing out of nowhere, and rubbing her perfectly manicured fingers all over his shoulder. Tristan clearly made no objection to the cheerleader groping him and even had the audacity to f*****g smile at her. "He's mine." The words left my mouth before I could even think. Both heads turned to look at him, Tristan's face held something of surprise and wonder, whilst Natasha shot me a sharp glare. "I mean, he's my employee. He's my bodyguard and I definitely do not condone other girl flirting with my help, or my help flirting with high school girls." "He's a big boy. He can make his own decisions." She dared to me speak and the made the bold move of wrapping her arm around Tristan's. "I'm sure he can, but not whilst he's getting paid to look after me." "She's right, I have a job to do, and I got distracted." I smiled to myself as he pried Natasha off his arm and stood by me instead. "Well you can still watch and guard, so I'm sure you can stay here." "Actually, we were just leaving." I said causally. "What?" She shrieked. "I'm done with cheerleading. I just can't listen to your stupid voice for an hour and besides, I don't do well with orders." Pulling off the school cheerleading shirt, I chucked it onto her face. She growled out in anger and yanked it off, before throwing it onto the ground. With a small wave, I began to storm away when she called out to me. "Kiara, you don't have to be a p***y. We all know you're into pot, drinking and a total slut now. Who knows, maybe the whole reason you don't want to do cheerleading anymore is because you're pregnant?" I dug my nails into my palms, hard enough to draw blood, and slowly turned with tight lipped smile on my face. Throwing my bag to Tristan, I started to run, causing Natasha to shriek, but I swiftly dodged her and did four front flips, with a 360 turn in the middle. Sticking the landing, I turned back to the gobsmacked crowd and blew them a kiss. I nudged past Natasha, who looked close to exploded with anger, and smirked. "Would a pregnant lady be able to do that?" The team giggled and Tristan laughed, as I snatched my bag back and walked away. We waited for Tessa to finish school and sat in the car in silence. He didn't bring up his attendance at my cheerleading practice, and neither did I. For some reason, it felt like the truth was going to hurt, and I wasn't ready for it. The both of us quickly got out of the car as my best friend came running towards us. "Tia has a brother who goes to St Joseph's and says that virtually all the guys there a super hot. I'm actually really excited for Monday. School just got a lot more interesting." "Why is school more interesting?" Tristan asked, as he opened up the back door for us. "Well, our partner school St Joseph is closing down so they're going to merge the boys and girls together now." "Wait, so now this school is going to be crawling with horny prep school boys?" I smirked and stepped forward, rubbing my hand down his arm, mirroring Natasha's moves. "Yes. Why are you jealous?" I purred. "Why would I be jealous of some pathetic little boys when I know you prefer a man?" I bite my lip and smiled. I loved when he got jealous, it meant he still cared and after this day...fuck I needed to him show a little jealousy. I noticed the faint smile on his lips and the look in his eyes that he had whenever he was planning something. Tessa awkwardly slipped into the car, leaving just him and I alone. "Why do you have that look on your face?" "What look?" "The look that tells me your thinking about doing something I probably won't like." He smiled, brushed his thumb down my cheek. "Don't worry about it baby-girl." *** When we got back to my house, Kalen was lounging in the living room, his eyes fixed on the television screen, but they lit up once he noticed us walking in. "Kiwi," He hugged me tight and had the nerve to mess up my hair, earning him a punch on the arm. His eyes drifted over to Tessa and he smirked. "Miss Tessa," Grabbing her hand, he pressed a light kiss onto her knuckle, causing her blush. "You look beautiful as always." "Tha..nk you." She stuttered, and I rolled my eyes, grabbing her arm and pushing her behind me. "Flirt with my best friend again and I'll cut your d**k off." I snapped, pulling her out of the room "Why would you embarrass me like that?" She screeched. "Tess he's my brother and you're my best friend, that's never happening. Besides, he's a fuckboy and a flirt like the rest of my brothers, I'm not going to let him hurt you. Promise you won't give him the chance to break your heart. "I promise." We sealed it with a hug, before she left to get some water. Turning around, I jumped slightly when I caught Tristan staring at me intently. "I have to run some errands." "Okay that's fine we're just gonnna hang out here then." I narrowed my eyes at him. "Your errands don't have anything to do with secret plan you're concocting, does it?" "You know me baby-girl, I just can't help but get into trouble." With a wink, he swiftly left, leaving me with his worrying words. ________________________________ A/N: Hit me with theories as to what you think Tristan is going to do now!
