K I A R A ' S P.O.V
"Excuse us Mr Carter." He led me out of the room, away from the vultures of New York's richest. His hand was still secured on my waist, lingering just above my ass, but I didn't tell him to move it. It felt nice, as if this was his claim on me as his.
"So..." He drawled, as we made our way onto the busy street.
"So..." He shoved his hands into his jacket pockets, alerting me for the first time that he was wearing a suit. I don't think I had ever seen Aaron wear a suit before, but f**k, did he look good.
The sharp fitting outfit was a classic black and white tux, his tie a deep red colour, matching the handkerchief folded neatly in his upper pocket. His hair was tousled and messy, despite his formal attire, yet in ways it matched perfectly.
"I guess you can go home now." My head shot up.
"What? You're sending me home? I thought that you..."
"I bought you because I didn't want you to be forced to go on a date with someone you didn't want to. I bought you so Jones couldn't get his greedy hands on you."
"Why?" He peered up at me, the street lights causing his dazzling blue eyes to sparkle.
"What do you mean?" There was something hidden beneath the meaning of his words, and I wanted to find out more. I wanted him to open up to me, to show me a vulnerable side of him he'd never shown anyone before.
"Why did you want to protect me from Jones?"
"Because you deserve better than being someone's eye piece, you deserve to be someone's...." He trailed off, his eyes staring down at the ground.
"Someone's what?" He smiled, not a smirk, a genuine smile that made my heart flutter, and lifted his head up so his eyes could bore into mine.
"Someone's everything. Their life, their world, their love. A girl like you deserves so much more than what this terrible world has to offer."
I found myself captivated completely by the sheer authenticity in the way he spoke his words. No-one, not even Tristan, had even said such beautiful words to me before. Has made me feel as though, I genuinely deserve love, to be loved, to be in love.
However there was also a darkness behind his words, an evil lingering in the way he spoke it as if it was the truth. As if, nothing could change his words.
"I've come to...care for you and you're my friend, right?" I nodded, despite the uncertainty of his words. "I protect my friends, no matter the price." I smiled, a quiet laugh leaving my lips.
"Well, it's only nine and I'm all dressed up...." His eyebrow arched at my suggestion.
"So...you want me to take you out?" There was a mischievous glint in his eyes, and the devilish smile was back. I bit my lip, taking a small step closer to the intoxicating man.
"Yes. I want you to take me out."
"Like friends or..." Friends. For some reason, no part of me wanted to be just friends with Aaron. I wanted to be..more with him, but what? I didn't know.
"Is there a difference?" He shrugged.
"I wouldn't take my friends, the same place where I would take a date."
"I didn't know Aaron Black went on dates, or that he had...girlfriends." The thought of him with another made my blood boil, but I didn't let it show. What was wrong with me? I was jealous of a fictional girl?
" I don't have girlfriends. I have lovers."
Lovers sounded so...sensual...so risky, and I loved it.
"Lovers? I have to say the term is intriguing."
"Are you interested?" Oh I was definitely interested, but I couldn't let him see that. Not yet.
"Why don't you take me out first? I'm starved."
"Okay Princess, I have to admit I do have something planned." I was immediately taken aback. Aaron Black planned a date?
"You planned a date for me?" He lips curled up at my shocked tone.
"Of course, you keep me on my toes Princess. I have to be prepared for anything."
"You say that like it's a bad thing." I pouted, causing his arms to wrap around my waist.
"Oh no Princess, it's definitely a good thing."
"Well my knight, I'm yours for the rest of the night."
"Knight?" He exclaimed as if the word itself was an insult. "Nothing about me screams knight. In fact I'm the opposite of a knight, Princess, I'm your worst nightmare."
"Will you stop being so harsh on yourself? You saved me from having to spend a night with that old bastard who probably just wanted to get into my pants." He was still scowling, causing me to roll my eyes. "Fine, how about I call you my dark knight? Will that satisfy your bad boy ego?"
"How about you just call me by my name?" I shook my head
"No way, you call me Princess, even though I don't particularly like the nickname. This is only fair."
"Fine!" He snapped. "You can call me your dark night."
Grinning, I lifted up my hand and trailed it down his arm. "So, my dark knight, what are you going to do with me?"
The smirk became permanently etched on his face, as he tucked my hair behind my ear. "Oh Princess, you have no idea."
***
"First, we have to ditch the watchdogs." Aaron murmured, looking back at the three gorilla hired to watch me for the night. We'd slipped into Aaron's car, only to realise that a huge Range Rover was following us from behind. We stopped to get some 'air', when in reality we actually needed a plan.
Glancing up at him, I smirked. "Watch and learn pretty boy."
"Did you just call me..." I didn't wait to hear his response, as I made my way over to them, swaying my hips slightly which instantly caught their attention.
Uh, men.
"Uh guys, this is really embarrassing but I've just started my period, and I don't want my date to know. Would you mind buying me some stuff? Secretly, of course." The middle one stepped forward, clearing his throat.
"We've been instructed not to leave your side Miss, we simply can't do that."
"Oh but...shit the cramps." I hunched over, holding my stomach, before looking over at the one in charge. "Can you please get me period relief?"
"Period relief?" Hopefully these guys were dumb enough to buy this bullshit.
"Yeah, it helps a lot, with the cramps. It gets rid of them and I forget mine at home." They all stood, hesitant whether or not to leave. "Please, my date paid a lot of money for me and he's threatening to take it all back if we don't leave now, but I can't just bleed and ruin my dress. Can you imagine how embarrassing that would be for me? So, I need you to get me water, you to get period relief and please, can you get me some tampons?"
"We'll be right back Miss, don't move." I chuckled victoriously, as they all scurried into the shop. i***t, didn't they realise it only took one of them to do the job?
Skipping back over to Aaron, he didn't waste anytime, grabbing my hand and quickly pulling me into the car. He sped off without a second glance back, but I did, just in time to see them all run out, realisation plastered onto their faces.
"That was f*****g amazing! I knew you were smart but not that smart." I simply smiled back, watching as he reached over to grab my hand.
"This is okay right?" I looked up at him, before staring down at our entwined fingers.
"This is perfect." I leant back against the seat, watching him smile, as he drove peacefully to wherever the hell Aaron Black takes his 'lovers'.
"Wait, what? The theatre? This is where you take the girls you want to f**k?" I exclaimed, as he pulled up outside the antique building.
"No, but I thought this would be a nice place to take you." My eyes turned into slits, as confusion washed over me.
"What part of me screams theatre?"
"The old you. I remember that you used to be obsessed with dancing, ballet especially, but you quit after dating Tristan for a couple of months. I know how much you enjoyed it because you used to force us to watch the royal ballet coverage. I heard about a secret practice going on, I thought we could watch it together."
"Aaron this is..." There were honestly no words for how perfect this all was. I still couldn't believe he remembered my fascination with the arts, especially ballet.
I quit because I wanted to spend more time with my boyfriend and dancing was my life, but Tristan slowly took over. I didn't regret my choice because every moment me and Tristan had spent together was like a fairytale romance, I just wished that maybe I had gone back to it after he left.
"Come on, we don't want the three stooges to catch us." He got out the car, running around go help me out. Together we rushed in, Aaron unlocking the door with a silver key, and we quietly made our way up the never ending staircase.
When we finally reached the balcony, I stood there for a moment, entranced by the sheer beauty of the fluid movements the six identical ballerinas were performing.
"It's Swan Lake, and they're the prima ballerinas. Each one has spent years training for this." I shivered slightly in the way his fingers grazed my shoulder. He was standing right behind me but I didn't dare to look back, in the fear of becoming sucked into his mesmerising trance again.
Aaron had a way of making me forget everything and everyone with one look. He had a way of making me wild and crazy, and right now I wanted to keep sane, just to appreciate the moment.
Backing away slowly, he took a seat on the large chair, the only chair. "Sit." He ordered, his intimidating gaze never once faltering.
Complying to his demand, I perched on the edge of his knees, but in one swift move, he had me pinned back to his waist, his visible bulge rubbing against my crotch.
"You can't...you can't watch the ballet." I whispered breathlessly, my eyes fixed on the dancers. I felt him lean forward, his nose nudged my ear, as he let out a deep breath.
"I don't want to watch the ballet, I just want to watch you." I took in a sharp inhale of air, when his fingers moved the skirt of my dress aside, to caress my bare thigh.
I shifted uncomfortably, the temperature feeling as though it had been turned up to the max. "Aaron I..."
"Shh..." He murmured, causing me to shut my eyes whilst his fingers crept higher and higher, almost reaching my sweet spot. "I've got you Princess." I almost fainted when they grazed over my wet slit, despite being covered by a thin piece of fabric, I could feel everything.
They moved to the side, slowly moving my panties up and then they slid...
"What the hell are you doing in here?" My eye shot open at the booming voice that instantly broke me out of my s****l daze. A security guard was stood there, a flashlight in hand, and staring straight at us.
I didn't even want to know how this looked. I was sat on his lap, skirt hitched over my waist, Aaron's fingers grazing my core, whilst the ballet continued to perform before us.
We must have looked like a bunch of pervs.
"Run." Aaron mumbled, slowly retracting his hand.
"What?" I blurted out in shock.
"Run!" He bellowed, grabbing my hand, before sprinting out the room.
We ran down the stairs, the train of my dress, cascading down the stairs beautifully, but causing me to slow down. Yanking my hand back, I stopped and leant against the railing, grabbing the end of my dress and ripping it in one fell swoop.
"What the hell are you doing?" I smirked, glancing up at Aaron, as I pulled off my heels. I started to run again, carrying my heels, when a crashed sounded behind us.
The guard had tripped up over the ripped material of my dress, that I dumped there, causing him to tumble down the stairs but the man was resilient. He simply, got up, and began to chase us again.
"Ditch the shoes," Aaron screamed, when we finally made it outside. The wind howled, rushing past us as we ran.
"Are you crazy? These are Gucci." He merely rolled his eyes, grabbing my wrist, and pulling me into a dark alleyway. Pinning me against his chest, he clasped his hand over my mouth, causing me to struggle.
"Quiet, he's coming." We both froze, holding our breath, as the large man came barrelling straight past us. We stood like that for a solid minute, before he finally let me go.
"Come on." He murmured, holding my hand as he dragged me towards, what looked like, an abandoned building.
Again, he had a key which slotted into the hole perfectly and pushed the rusty door open. I stopped inside, glancing up at the crazy amount of stairs, he wanted me to walk up.
"You're dumb if you think I'm going to...ah, okay." I settled my hands around his neck, whilst his held me up. I wasn't complaining as he walked me up all the stairs without a word.
Using his left foot, he kicked the next door open which lead to the roof. Placing me down, I slowly walked further out, feeling my heart quicken when I took in the view.
A blanket lay on the ground, a basket in the middle, with rose petals surrounding it. There were no lights, simply the stars to glisten and brighten up our world overhead.
There was the most beautiful view of the city right in-front of us and I found myself so entranced, that I didn't even register when Aaron took ahold of my hand and led me over to the picnic.
"Aaron, I honestly have no words."
"Because you hate it." He spoke with such fear, as if he actually thought I wouldn't like being wined and dined underneath the stars.
"Are you kidding? I love it! This has to be the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me." Tristan was a close second, but this had to top everything.
"It's the only romantic thing I've ever done for anyone."
Suddenly, I felt extremely special. Aaron Black took me on a date, Aaron never went on dates, nevertheless plan something likes this. It made me feel incredibly happy and weirdly excited that he'd only ever done this for me.
"By the way, I loved running away from the security guard. It was such a thrill. I should have known my first date with you would include doing something illegal." He chuckled.
"Of course it would, or are you forgetting who you're with?" Shaking my head, I glanced back at the stunning view.
"How could I forget?" I murmured, the words disappearing into the cold dark night.
"Here," Aaron said, placing his jacket onto my shoulders. I smiled at him, standing up to sit on the ledge. He followed me, his shoulder brushing against mine as he took his seat.
"I love New York." I sighed, letting my head fall onto his shoulder. "I love the people, the food, the music, the parties, the lifestyle. Nowhere else in the world can a city look this beautiful."
"Would you ever want to leave then?"
"Never, it's my home." I stared down at my bare feet that dangled off the edge.
"Me either, it's my home too." I felt myself grin, leaning further into his warm hold. His arm came around my waist, steadying me, and I slowly lifted my head up.
"Tonight has been one of the best nights of my life. Thank you." I'm happy, so f*****g happy and I feel nothing but content right now. The pain, the sadness, the tears, they were gone and it was all because of him.
"No, thank you Princess. For being willing to take the risk of spending the night with a monster like me." I placed my hand on his cheek, forcing him to look at me.
"You're not a monster Aaron, you're simply misunderstood."
"I kill, I murder people in cold blood and I like it. I sell drugs, I run a f*****g gang. You deserve a Prince Charming, not a beast."
"What if I don't want a Prince Charming?" He eyes bore into my mine with such a ferocity, I gulped nervously. "What if I want to give the beast a chance?"
"He'll ruin you Kiara, just like he destroys everything good and pure in his life." He was a broken man, and I recognised it because I was broken too.
"What if I'm willing to take that chance?" I couldn't live my life being scared of falling in love again or getting my heart broken. I had to...try...take risks and tonight, I willing to risk it all.
"You really want to do this? Because I've never...felt as strongly about someone as I have about you. You make me scared, and nothing makes me scared." That made me giggle, and he smiled, softly cupping my face. "I need to go slow."
"So do I." I reiterated. "I still love Tristan." I couldn't lie to him, not if we were going to this.
I watched as his smile faltered slightly. "I know you do, that's why I think we should start as lovers."
"What exactly does that entail?"
"Me, you, no restrictions." I bit my lip.
"Does that mean, we can have s*x?" He chuckled, leaning in slightly closer.
"It means we can do whatever the f**k we want. You're not like every other girl Princess, so I hate what I'm about to say but I still need time."
"What do you mean?" He sighed heavily.
"I'm not a one woman kinda guy. I don't like attachment, but with you I do, it's just I want..."
"To be non-exclusive." He nodded.
"Exactly, and slowly we can build our way up to being just us."
"So, you can sleep with other girls? And I can sleep with other guys?" I noticed his jaw clenching at that last part but chose to ignore it.
"Exactly. I'm doing this so I don't hurt you, I know myself too well and I know that it's going to take me time to adjust. I understand if you want to back out, this is a lot and I'm not even sure I can handle being in a monogamous relationship, but I can promise you I'm going to try."
I smiled, even though a part of me was pained to know that Aaron wasn't sure he could handle a relationship. I didn't know if I could be with someone who would sleep with others, but I guessed if I could too, then that would be fair at least.
"So, what do you Princess? Do you want to be my lover?" I shivered slightly but I didn't know if it was because of the wind, or the offer.
Even though my heart automatically screamed yes, my brain said no. It was the classic follow your heart or your head situation, and I had to choose. I've been so careful with Tristan around, constantly guarding my heart, but now I just wanted to live. Live in the moment, just like my mum said, and for once, I was just going to follow my heart.
"Yes, I'll be your lover." A huge smile broke out on his face.
"Okay then, I guess there's only one way to deal the deal." I smirked, knowing exactly what he meant.
Leaning in, I stop once I felt our noses brush against each other's. "Are you okay? We don't have to.."
"Oh shut up Black," Grabbing the collar of his shirt, I yanked him into me, causing our lips to smash against each other's.
