WHAT IS IT ABOUT THIS MYSTERY

William's P.O.V.

I was trembling like hell when the emergency staff took her inside the OR. I was never in a situation like this before. She was wounded, pale, shattered, and was not breathing properly. My hands were getting sweaty furiously because of my anxious state. I only knew her name and that was why I gave all my details. I searched for her phone and to my surprise; she was carrying a man’s wallet with her ID and debit card but nothing else.

I decided to call my father because I didn’t want any kind of problem for me right now. I took out my phone while looking at the close door of the OR. “Hey, dad… I …. I .. need your help”, I stuttered because I knew what was coming for me now.

“What did you do this time?” he asked me in a cold but stern voice. “Dad… it’s… it’s not me… do you know Hamilton’s?” I asked him anxiously while biting my nails. “Yeah… what’s about them?” he asked me in a calmer tone now. I sighed in relief.

“Well…. I was coming back to home after dropping Nathan when I found Venessa Hamilton lying at the side of the road. She is wounded and bruised. I…. I … really don’t know what happened to her but she coughed blood. I… I …. Took her here to the hospital. They… they… dad… she was not breathing when I took her from there”, I almost yelled out of fear.

“William… relaxed…. You need to calm down first…. I trust you whatever you telling me this time, okay?” he said in a calm tone and I took a deep breath of relief. My dad rarely trusted my words and I was glad that he trusted me this time. I didn’t know it was due to me or Venessa?

“They took her inside OR and the nurse asked me whether I want to file a case or not. I… I.. really don’t know dad… what to do … I can’t contact her family because she doesn’t have any phone with her”, I told him then everything truthfully.

“William…. I am coming there and will take care of everything. You need not to worry. Just do me a favor…. Do not let any of her family members go near to her if they show there”, his words took me off guard. He wanted to me to keep her family members away from her.

“Can you do this for me, huh?” he asked and I took a long breath. “Yes, dad…. I can do this. Nathan is also coming here. We will take care of her”, I said and he said okay then we both hung up. I looked at the blank screen of my phone. What he meant by keeping her family away from her? Were they so bad to her? Did they do this to her? I heard from Nathan that they were not good to her but this was real bad…. I meant real bad….

“How is she?” I heard Nathan’s voice and looked back. He was also looking anxious and nervous. I was relieved that now I had someone beside me and I was not alone in this situation.

“I …. Don’t know… they have taken her inside that room half an hour ago and no one has come out yet”, I told him truthfully and he sighed aloud. “What happened?” he asked me after a while. He was a little calm now. I was still anxious and scared. “I … can’t tell you exactly what happened to her. I found her unconscious at the side of the road. She …. Has… so many bruises on the face and …. She coughed blood…and… O, God… Nathan… I don’t want to think about her condition. She… she was not breathing and”, I trailed off while leaning at the wall behind me. I was still trembling.

“Hey… hey… relax… I can assume now… just relax… will you?” he looked at me questioningly and I nodded reluctantly because I knew that I couldn’t relax until they tell me that she is out of danger.

“Dad is coming here… he… he said that we need to keep her family away from her if anyone shows here until he comes”, I told him and he raised his brows at me in confusion. I shrugged my shoulders because I really didn’t know why did he ask me to do this.

“This is weird”, he said while thinking something. I sighed and then looked at the closed door of OR again. “What are they doing inside with her? Why are no one coming out?” I yelled in frustration now. This waiting thing was taking a toll on me. “Relax man…. They will tell us something soon. Just relax”, Nathan held me from my shoulder and I sighed.

“Come… let’s sit there… we can’t do anything but wait”, Nathan said to me and almost dragged me towards chairs a little far from the door. I was reluctant but soon gave up. There was no use of standing there. We both sat down on empty chairs there and then looked towards the door once again.

“Did you inform her family?” Nathan queries and I shook my head negatively. “No… she doesn’t have any cell phone with her”, I told him and he shrank his nose in confusion again. “This is weird”, he said and I nodded in agreement. I meant, come on, we live in 21st century and even school going children from a poor family have cell phone these days. She is in college and didn’t have cell phone, this fact didn’t sit in my guts too.

“William”, I heard my dad’s voice and looked in the his direction while standing up from my place with Nathan. I saw dad coming with a police officer towards me. “I talked with the doctor. She is alright. She has a few broken ribs and other deep bruises on her body. They are going to shift in the ICU for the observation. You can go home now”, dad told me and I sighed in relief. She was alive and it was enough for me to sleep peacefully in the night.

“Thanks, dad…. I was really scared, you know”, I told him truthfully and he came near to me and put his hand on my shoulder. “I am glad, son that you helped her without thinking about the consequences. I am really happy”, he passed me a small smile and I jerked my face a little in shock. I didn’t remember I saw him smiling. “You can give your statement to him and then you two can go home. I will take care here first then I will come to home”, he said and I nodded while looking at the police officer standing behind my father.

Dad then went away from me and took out his phone. I looked at Nathan and then we all sat down again on the chairs. I told the police officer everything that I saw and how I found her there. We all assumed that she was in her way to the hospital after getting that assault and her condition made her faint there.

“Thanks, Mr Nash… I only need you to show me the place where you found her. After that you can go home”, the police officer said to me with a tight smile on his face and I nodded in agreement. “I am coming with you then I will head home from there”, Nathan said to me and we all started walking out of the Emergency Department. I didn’t know why I wanted to see her once before going back to home.

“Can I see her?” I asked the police officer and he looked at me apologetically. “She is still in OR, Mr Nash. They need to put a cast on her ribs and it will take time. You can see her in the morning”, he told me and I bit my lower lip. Nathan put his hand on my shoulder and said, “We will come back in the morning and see her”. I nodded and then we started walking again.

“Count your days until she comes back to claim what is hers, Patrick. This is the last time you and your pathetic family laid their hands on her. Be ready to handover everything to her”, I heard my dad roaring on someone at phone. We stopped in our track after what we heard. Anger started building up inside me. So, I was right. It was her family. How pathetic they were to beat a girl like this.

“I have prepared her for everything. She is more than ready to take over every part of the business now. You need not to worry and don’t ever think about your allies as they are already waiting for her to show up”, I narrowed my eyes on his words this time. What did he meant by every part of business? What was he up to?

“Let’s go, William”, Nathan whispered to me and I looked at him and then to the back of my dad again. I sighed and then we all headed towards the parking area of the hospital to get our vehicles. I didn’t know why but something was really mysterious about her here.
