Chapter 3 I awoke to find we weren’t moving. Sitting up, I looked over the back of the seat and noted that Duff was missing. “He’s gone to get Rob,” Liddy told me, at which point I realized we were in the small parking lot by the Alamosa airport and it was beginning to get dark again. Moments later I saw them coming our way, Rob with the sort of relieved look on his face most airplane passengers have when they’re finally free of from forced captivity. Rob greeted us, telling Liddy when she asked that the flight wasn’t as bad as it could have been. “At least they had pretzels as well as peanuts, and fruit juices.” Duff got back into the driver’s seat, with Liddy riding shotgun, and after I moved to join Ian in the center seat, Rob slid in beside me.
