Gabriella heard Barrett laugh and bang the door behind him. Her heart began to race, she was terrified of his laughter even.  “Don’t pretend, I know you are not sleeping,” he said with amusement in his voice, he was apparently happy about something. Gabriella ignored him and feigned a heavy breathing. She was used to pretending to be asleep. She had faked it severely to avoid her mum's usual banter during the preparation for the wedding. Her mum had visited her room almost everyday to discuss the preparations of the wedding and how much progress she had made. On some occasions, Gabriella had pretended to be listening and then pretended to fall asleep while listening but most times she just laid on her bed, and closed her eyes and she did that sometimes before her mother entered.
