(Maya POV)
I ran past the living room, out of the house, through the garden to the ballroom. I was panting heavily and I groaned at the distance.
I paused my step in front of the huge dome house. The dome was made of a transparent yet rough type glass and so the dim light from the dome shown to the outside. I looked at the building as fear started creeping in.
'I don't wanna go' I thought taking a step back.
'What are you saying Maya.' my wolf’s voice rose in my head.
'I can't do this' I whispered turning back.
'You can do it, Maya. There is nothing to fear. They are your family now' she said.
'Family? I'll never fit in, Lo. I can't do it. Our mate hates us.' I said as my heart felt heavy.
'He doesn't hate us, Maya. He just.... he just needs time. He cares about you' she said as I shook my head.
'He is disgusted with me. He is ashamed. He didn't want me to join the warriors because I am weak' I said as tears started filling my eyes.
'Maya. Don't cry. I know, deep down he loves you more than anything else. He didn't want you to fight because he is afraid he would lose you' she said.
"How do you know?" I whispered out loud looking at the bright full moon.
'Trust me I know' she said as I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion.
'No time to waste, Maya. Get in. You look gorgeous. I know he won't be able to take his eyes off you. A beta-female needs to be strong, able to meet with every trouble, able to solve them. You are a beta-female, if not the Goddess would have never chosen you. Come on Maya, get in there and show them who you are' my wolf said confidently. Her strong emotion radiated to me as a new level of confidence rose.
I took a deep shaky breath and nodded my head.
"Let's do this," I said before opening the door.
Bright light engulfed my eyes making my eyes squint. The room was huge and it was packed with people. Some were dancing, some eating, some chatting. A sudden feeling of loneliness engulfed me.
I looked around not knowing what to do. I couldn’t find Vince, Roe, Danni, or even Edward. The room was filled with strangers.
I felt it hard to breathe and I just wanted to get out. On deciding to grab some drinks I turned but only to bump into someone.
"Oh god. I'm so sorry" a beautiful enchanting voice arose.
In front of me stood a tall woman with beautiful midnight black curly hair. Her eyes were bright mystic blue and I couldn't help but fall into a trance.
"I wasn't watching where I was going. Are you alright?" she asked as I nodded mutely. She c****d her head and looked at me with confusion making me clear my throat.
"I'm alright," I said as she gave out a beautiful smile.
"Oh! Umm... I'm sorry to ask but are you new here? I haven't seen you around" she asked as I nodded my head.
"Yea I'm new. I umm" I stopped, thinking what I should say. I can't say I'm Vince's mate. He might get mad.
"Can I know your name?" she asked cutting off my train of thoughts.
"Oh. My name is Maya" I said and I noticed a flash of shock running through her face but it was immediately covered by a smile.
"Nice to meet you, Maya. My name is Na..." she said but was stopped mid-sentence by a voice.
"There you are! Alpha's looking for you. Go fast" My mate's voice rang making me go tense.
The woman nodded her head and started making her way. But before she went she turned and gave me a full-blown smile. "Let's meet after the ceremony"
I watched her retreating figure before turning to face my mate. My heart started to beat fast as I took in his appearance.
Dark blue suit with a black undershirt. His hair was combed messily but it still looked neat. Suddenly my hands itched as I started having a great temptation to run my hands through them.
Vince, on the other hand, ran his eyes through my body making me feel uncomfortable. He looked at me with a hint of pride making me confuse.
Maybe I'm imagining it?
"You look beautiful," he said making my eyes go wide.
"W-What?" I asked as he looked at me with no emotion. A blush formed on my face as I looked down at my feet. "T-Thank you" I stuttered while I mentally scolded myself for being like this.
"Maya!" a voice called from behind. Both of us turned back to find Roe with Danni walking to us. Well, Danni was walking, Roe was running.
"Maya!" She said giving me a huge hug. Danni gave me a smile before pulling his mate to his side.
They look so cute. They were matching. Both wore an ash color outfit- Danni was in a suit while Roe wore an ash knee-length dress.
"You both look so cute matching!" she squealed as if reading my thoughts. I looked at her confused before turning to my mate. My eyes widened as I realized something.
We both wore the same color. We are matching.
I looked at Roe who gave me a wink and a thumbs up. I blushed but smiled at her.
I can't believe she planned this out.
"The ceremony starts soon. We should go" Danni said as I nodded. We started to make our way to the ground when Vince grabbed my wrist.
"Where are you going? You are coming to the stage" he said making me look at him in confusion.
"Huh?" I asked.
"Today you are going to officially join the pack," he said as my eyes widened.
"Join your pack?" I asked as he nodded before dragging me to the backstage.
Excitement filled my mind. Yea, I was pissed he didn't say this to me earlier but I'm gonna have a pack again. I'm gonna have a family.
A full-blown smile made way to my face.
"Wait here," he said before walking off to the stage. I looked around and started playing with a strand of hair.
"Hey! Maya!" The women from before shouted before making way to me.
"Oh hai!" I said waving.
"Excited for the event?" she asked as I nodded.
"Hell yea. Not only do I be a pack member, but I also get to meet the Alpha and Luna!" I said jumping with excitement.
"Wow you’re a big fan?" she asked amused.
"Hell yea! They are so damn powerful. But I’m pretty nervous to meet them! Especially the Luna." I said as she laughed.
"I'm sure she is just a human like others, sweetheart. And I know, you will rock that stage" she said as she gave me a wide smile and yet again I felt like going into a strange trance.
"Attention everyone. Let me take this moment to call our Alpha Railey on stage" Vince announced making me grab her hand and walk closer just so I can see him.
A tall, well built guy walked to the center of the stage and bowed his head.
"Hello, my family. You all know that the reason for our absence was to get the blessings from the elder sorcerers as per our Luna's tradition. And now that I have successfully completed it, we will be getting married!" he said as the crowd roared in cheer.
The Alpha stood silently with a smile looking at his pack's reaction before calming them down.
"Without further wait, let me call my mate, your Luna. Naomi!" he said and once again the crowd cheered.
A tall woman with a familiar curly hair walked to the stage and grabbed hold of the Alpha's extended hand.
She turned and smiled as my eyes widened in shock. I quickly looked beside me to see that I was alone. I then looked back at her as she waved at me with a wink.
