Free led Dale down a deserted corridor. It was similar to the service tunnels of Hesperus, but it was made of concrete, not metal or polymer. Like the hospital room, the walls, floor, and ceiling were rough and uneven, as if the builders had poured them in a hurry and then moved on to the next tunnel. There were LEDs built into housings on the ceiling, and they illuminated the tunnel with cold white light.
Despite Dale's injury, the going was easy, thanks to Mercury's .38g pull.
