Jaachi sat in his bedroom thinking, the problem with his in official assignment was that he never had any itinerary for the day. He could be idle all day then called in for assistance when he wanted time to himself. It was not that he begrudged his country of his services, he just wished his role was a little more defined. Unlike most youths his age, he was not thirsty for a full fledged war, he just wanted peace and freedom from West Hendosia, freedom to build the Hendosia of his dreams, no matter the capacity of the position he was going to occupy, whether as king or football veteran.
Foremost on his mind was the plane that had killed his father, he wondered why the plane crash was not investigated, the jet had not even been brought back home. He could see the attention the bombing at Jordan had gotten, why hadn't the plane crash gotten that much attention - granted that was a crash, this was a bombing by the enemy yet.... Apart from the initial news on the T V and in the papers when it had first happened, everyone pretty much forgot about the jet and Jaachi could not understand why. Insurance hadn't even contacted them - and he was sure the jet was insured.
Before now, he had been to caught up with the recent happenings, the funeral, the bombing, he had not had time to think but now that he did, he wanted to get to the bottom of it. It had not been only his father and brother that had died that day, there had been two pilots and a flight attendant, why hadn't they been mentioned, didn't their lives count? He understood they may not be too priority politically but these people were citizens what had died alongside their King and he didn't even know their names. Determined to get to the bottom of it all, Jaachi picked up his phone and called the only person he could trust
"Helo Uncle." He said when his Uncle picked up. " I hope this is not a busy time, can I come over?" The General was silent for so long that Jaachi thought he had not heard. " Hello, General, are you there?"
" Yes Jaachi, come over but this had better not be about what I think it is." Then he hung up.
As he drove over to the General's house, Jaachi wondered what the old man had meant, what was the 'it' the General thought he wanted to see him for, was something up that he did not know about or had the General sensed the reason for his coming and was already skeptical. He shrugged. There was no reason to keep speculating, the answers lay in front of him in the General's magnificent mansion. When he pulled up at the gates this time around, he was let in immediately. He parked and ran up to the house, knocking as soon as he reached the door, the General was a very busy man and Jaachi wanted to have that conversation before anything came up that would take the General away.
The General opened the door and stepped aside for Jaachi to come in, eyeing him suspiciously. "What's this about?" He asked, pouring him a shot of cognac.
" Well I would say good morning to you too, but since we're skipping pleasantries, it's fine by me."
The General merely grunted
Jaachi took the shot his Uncle offered. "What happened to the jet - do you know ?"
Ejiofor set down the bottle of brandy slowly then turned to face Jaachi. " What dog you mean what happened to the jet ?"
" Like what caused the plane crash, was it human error. - pilot error, the weather, some kind of engine failure or... I mean why hasn't anyone talked about this, surely there must be some kind of investigation after a plane crash especially the plane crash that killed the head of State of a country.
" Where is all this coming from ?"
" Well it's more than mere curiosity, don't you also wonder yourself because to me everything seems off. I have been thinking lately and the chances of a plane crash for every plane - or private jet that takes off in the air are like one in a million so what could have caused the jet to crash? "
Ejiofor smiled sadly." You know I have never really understood football, why can't a player take off with the ball and head straight for the post, why keep passing the ball left and right "
Jaachi frawned " because he is trying not to let the ball - "
" My point is - go straight to the point "
" I think there's a high possibility that the plane was sabotaged by the pilot himself. Maybe he was an enemy agent, we all know the death of the Ochia would open East Hendosia up, make us vulnerable. I'm surprised they did not bring war down on us, raining bullets and bombs before we had the time to recoup."
" Diplomatic reasons ." Ejiofor poured himself a shot and drank it in one gulp. " You forget that this is the twenty first century not world war II ." He placed his hands on Jaachi's shoulders. "So you my friend came up with a theory of a pilot - two pilots purposely crashing their plane in order to kill their passenger and dying in the process. A little far fetched if you ask me."
" Well may be they are patriotic, would you not give your life if you thought it would bring this war to an end, with us on the winning side. ?"
" Gladly, but then you forget, we fight to survive, they fight to suppress, the prey always runs with more passion than the hunter. "
Jaachi was silent, thinking. He finished his shot, thought about pouring himself another one then decided against it, setting down his glass instead he asked " so you don't think the pilots did it. "
Ejiofor drew in a breath. " I'm not ruling out that possibility, it could have been the pilots, could have been a fault from the engineers or natural causes,. I just don't want you to hang onto one theory, it could have been anything and I promise you, we would get to the bottom of this. "
" Then why isn't there an on going investigation ? The jet wasn't even brought home, what could have stopped them from shipping the jet in the same time the flew in the bodies - did they even fly in the bodies of the suspects ? "
" Suspects ?"
" Sorry, I meant to say the other people on the plane, the two pil- "
" Jaachi the rest of the people on the plane are none of our business, I ordered the plane not to be brought in yet until the war is over. I want to be a part of the investigation of that crash - when we finally have an investigation, I just don't want it to get in the way of anything at this critical period. So promise me you're going to leave this alone until the war is over."
" What of the insurance, why haven't they contacted us ? "
" Because they can't know their stand until after a full enquiry into the crash. "
" Don't you think the trail is getting cold, I mean this war could go on for a year - two years or more and by the time it is over, it would be too late for justice to be served. "
" Justice will be served - or at least, we would get to the bottom of this..... and what's this about a trail getting cold ? The jet had been checked by very good engineers at a hanger in England, a file was sent down to us - "
" Can I see - "
" No you can't! Are you not listening to me young man. I asked you to leave this alone till after the war, your country needs you. I lost my brother too - but if you are right and this jet was sabotaged, don't you think you would be playing into their trap by acting the way you're doing now. - promise me Jaachi that this is the last time I would hear from you about that crash till further notice. "
" I'm sorry Uncle. " Jaachi said quietly, " I can't. " He stormed off without saying goodbye.
In his frustration, Jaachi had forgotten to ask the General what he thought Jaachi had been coming over for in the first place, he only remembered this as he pulled up to the gates of the palace.
He had just come out of his car when he saw Nmaka pull up in her navy blue BMW. She smiled at him, got out and handed her keys over to the chauffeur. " Jaachi ." She said, still smiling. " So I nearly missed you. "
He came around and gave her a warm hug. "Come in." He opened the front door and let her in, shutting it as he entered after her. " Please sit down." He said and went over to the cellar. "What would I bring the Lady?"
Nmaka smiled. " I don't know, why don't you surprise me Jaachi ?" She was feeling reckless.
" Ooh! Someone is feeling very bold tonight. I thought you only drank wine - Pinot Noir, that is when you want to try alcohol. "
Nmaka laughed and even to her ears, it sounded rich, seductive. "Well people change Flyboy or don't you agree with me ?"
Jaachi smiled. "Touche ! Well let's see what I can come up with."
"After a few minutes of mixing liquors, he handed her a glass.
She took a sip and closed her eyes. "This is divine ! Honestly." She took another sip. "It makes him think of beautiful Islands, wonderful houses, deep rich culture - you think this is how people feel when they're drunk."
Jaachi chuckled. "Well what I do know is that you can't get drunk from a sip of that. "
" Ah ! But what if you're already feeling reckless ehn ?" She studied him leaning on an antique carving of a lion, he had never looked more handsome. "Wouldn't a glass of water make you feel drunk if you were already feeling reckless ?" She felt her eyes mist as she was overcome by a strange urge to cry.
" Are you okay ?" Jaachi asked gently, he took the glass from her shaking hand and placed it on a near by stool. "Nmaka, what's the problem? Talk to me."
Overwhelmed by emotions, she flung herself into Jaachi's arms sobbing while tried awkwardly to comfort her.
Nmaka nodded then feeling the bravest she had ever felt before, she leaned up and kissed him. It was not really a kiss, as soon as her lips touched his, he pushed her away - not so gently.
"What's wrong with you Nmaka ?" he asked puzzled. But she refused to think, refused to see how he was reacting to everything. It was now or never.
" Jaachi see, I know this might come as a surprise but both of us can make this work, the Mmiri people need us to make this work. "
" Nmaka, what's wrong with you... did you take anything before you came here? "
" What's going on here." Lola asked and Jaachi and Nmaka immediately turned to face her. "I was in the guest room" she shot a look at Jaachi, "and I heard funny noises, so I'm just curious...."
" You're just curious ?" Nmaka screamed. " Is that why you smuggled yourself into this country... was it out of curiosity? "
" Nmaka !" Jaachi shouted. "What has come over you." To Lola, he said "Nmaka was just leaving."
" No, I'm not leaving so that this girl from the West can come and take you away from us. Don't you see, they'll never make you King if you remain with her, there's nothing queenly about her. She's just a spoilt brat."
Lola took deep breaths, trying to calm down. "Jaachi, I've been very mature about this up until now but if this crazy lady doesn't get out of here right now, she's going to regret coming. "
" You're calling me a crazy lady ?" Nmaka screamed. She couldn't recognize herself anymore, did not know what she was doing yet she carried on with a desperation that shocked even her. " You know Jaachi, maybe she's a spy - "
Lola slapped her. It was not a slap that invited retaliation and the very force of it shocked Nmaka into silence. She raised a hand to silence Jaachi when he started to speak. "She's obviously high on something. Call the chauffeur to take her home, she can't drive in such a state.
Nmaka was strangely calm after the slap, it was as if she was gradually starting to realize the full impact of what she had done. She felt filthy, alone and vulnerable. She also felt betrayed. Rota and her own mother had assured her that she was doing the right thing, that this was going to be easy, that Jaachi already had feelings for her, what a fool she had made of herself. She had never felt more humiliated in her life before.
Jaachi raked his hand through his hair telling himself to be calm. Nmaka had dropped on a chair and now sat crying softly, covering her face with her hands. Bending down, he gently removed them. "Nmaka look at me." He said softly.
"No." She cried rocking back and forth.
" Look at me Nmaka. " He waited until she did before he continued. "Are you okay mmh ?" He shook a bit when she remained silent. "Did you take anything ?"
" Yes. .... I mean no.. my mother, she said it would give me extra confidence - they've been onto me for so long - Rota and my mother... I'm so sorry, I don't know what I was thinking." Teary eyed, she looked up at Lola. "I'm sorry Lola, I didn't mean any of the things I said, you're a wonderful woman and you've shown a lot of maturity in this situation."
Moved to pity, Lola bent down to her sitting position. "It's okay, these past two weeks have been very difficult." She pulled Nmaka to her feet. " Come let's get you home. " Then turning to Jaachi, she said, "call the chauffeur." Murmuring sooting words to Nmaka, she led her out into the waiting car then got in beside her.
Jaachi raked his hand through his hair, deep in thought after they had gone. Just where had that come from, he tried to understand. He wondered if he had in anyway led her on but he hadn't. He had been genuinely pleased to see her, had thought she had come on an impulse, probably to have a drink or two with him and reminisce about the past. What he was still trying to figure out was whether her trying to kiss him had been impulsive or if everything had been planned - women, he just couldn't understand them. He poured himself a shot of whiskey and drank it in one gulp. She had said his mother and her mother had been onto her, he was going to have a talk with his mother very soon - the General too. He had no way of finding out if the General had been in on this unless he asked. He gave up trying to figure out all that had just happened and decided to go jogging instead.
He sent Lola a text telling her he would be back soon, changed his dress shoes for tennis shoes and headed out. He had been jogging for about five minutes when his phone rang, there was no caller ID. The voice he had when he picked up almost made him drop the phone. "Maopa ! What... where are you?"
"Sssh ! She said I'll explain everything later can you call for a car ? "
" Yes I'm - "
" Don't mention where you are, just call for a car. "
At the Cyber Military, Daruk Ole was trying not to sleep. He was the officer put in charge to monitor calls from everyone profiled to be a possible contact Maopa would make. The case of Maopa had proven an interesting one, after she had been flushed out from hiding by the television broadcast, she had been picked up by patrol and now barely 12 hours after she was brought in, she had escaped. He really wanted her to be caught, she was a threat to the intelligence and he didn't want a repeat of the Jordan bombing but he didn't believe she would make any call that night. He wouldn't if it were him, he would lie low in an empty house or the woods or something for at least two days, allow things to settle a bit before calling someone he trusted..... well that was if he did not have help escaping in the first place. He was about to sleep off when a call came through to the prince and after listening to a recording of her voice for so long he recognized it the moment Maopa spoke. "We've got her !" He shouted excitedly.
It took exactly five seconds to trace the call, she was calling from a pay phone in Shobar, very close to the palace.
Jaachi decided not to make the call, whoever had been trying to track Maopa would obviously track him. He started running back home, ignoring his phone when it started ringing, it wasn't Maopa. It was the Cyber Military. The gates at the palace opened at his arrival and he rushed in breathlessly, demanded a car key from a sentry then zoomed off, heading back to were he was when he first got the call. He braked suddenly as Maopa jumped in front of his car and opened the door for her, speeding up again as she got in, then they heard the helicopter. Killing the engine, he jumped out of the car and sprinted on with Maopa following breathlessly in his wake. He turned down an alley, dragging Maopa with him as they watched the beam from the helicopter pick up the now abandoned car.
"If I can get a ride out of this county, I know where I can hide." Maopa whispered beside him.
" Where is that ?" He murmured. He brought out his phone, smashed it against the wall then stamped on it.
" At one of my students place."
Jaachi looked sharply at her. " You mean those higher level students you teach at - where is that school
again ?"
" It's at Kafara, I know a few students who - "
" It's dangerous. Don't you think that the first place they're going to look for you is at your school or contacts made through your school. " He did a double take . "Where have you been hiding at anyway."
" That's a long story and I don't have any option."
I know a place - let's just say she can be trusted to keep a secret."
The helicopter after searching the surroundings in futility had dropped a rope and field agents started lowering to the ground.
" And this is were the going gets tough." Maopa said. "Look I'm sorry for bringing you into all this, I know if you're caught with me it could jeopardize your being crowned King. "
" Well we are going to have a long talk ." Jaachi murmured, "just not now." The agents were spreading out with powerful torch lights and Jaachi knew he would have to act fast or it was only a matter of time before they were caught. Looking around, he couldn't find any clue on how they were going to remain hidden. An agent had turned into their alley and was now only a few paces ahead of them with his back to them, all he needed to do was turn around and they would be spotted. Jaachi had always been lucky, but that was because he had never depended on luck, he was not going to start now. He gave their surrounding a once over - again, trying to leave nothing out.
" The trash." Maopa said inclining her head.
There were two big trash containers like mini trailers, probably used by the occupants of the two huge buildings beside them. One of the containers was semi full and Jaachi knew that would be the easiest one to get spotted in. " Come on." He said to Maopa, opening the second one that had garbage spilling out. He dug a bit then helped Maopa in and got in himself, leaving garbage strewn about, that should discourage them. He and Maopa were silent as torch light beams caught the containers then moved on, he didn't even smell the stench of the garbage dump, he was too packed on adrenaline to notice anything that was irrelevant to their escape
When the agents retreated back to the helicopter and they heard it fly off, he opened the lid of the container and got out, lifting a brow when Maopa rejected his offered hand and climbed out by herself then he saw there was a wierd paste stuck on his hand, not wanting to find out what it was, he quickly wiped it on the container. "Come on. We are going to need a ride or the ability to run fast without getting spotted."
" Well then it's the same thing, I would need a ride to get to my student's house and we would need a ride to get to your hide out so...."
" What part of it being dangerous to contact your students did you not get Ms - "
Maopa laughed. " I think we're well passed the 'Ms' by now - I just don't want to put you in danger. "
" But you can put these higher level students at risk?"
" If they're caught with me, the intelligence wouldn't make much of it apart from an initial questioning but we both know that wouldn't be the same with you."
" When you contacted me, I could have handed you over but I didn't - allow me to be responsible for my actions, besides you can't leave the county, you wouldn't make it past border patrol. Come, we have wasted enough time arguing.
It took Jaachi and Maopa longer than it would actually have to get to Flora's house. They had kept off major roads, meandering through streets and alley ways, a the while running as quietly as they could, stoping at times to catch their breaths. Now Jaachi and Maopa stood in Flora's sitting room, he was out of breath and a little out of words not having had time to discuss with Maopa and apart from the fact that she was wanted, all he knew was that she needed his help and so he was going to do his best to help her.
" So isn't anyone going to say anything or should I just pick up the phone and call the police ?" Flora asked after they had stood silently, staring at each other for a while.
Maopa shot Jaachi an I - told -you -so look. " Please don't call the police, I can explain everything thing Ms - "
" Maopa." Jaachi and Flora said at the same time. " And you will do the explaining after both of you have showered," Flora continued. " I have some leftovers from my dinner today, I can quickly heat up something if any of you are hungry - "
" That wouldn't be necessary Flora, thank you so much for understanding. " Jaachi cut in. "I would give you a hug right now if I was not so dirty."
Maopa struggled not to say anything. She knew she shouldn't impose on the young woman's generosity but it had been a very though day for her and the only thing she had eaten was the sandwich and stale coffee the people at intelligence had offered her that morning, before she escaped.
Flora smiled, feeling a bit shy in Jaachi's presence and glad she had been able to do something to help him. " Well I'll accept the hug after you've showered and Maopa, I'm going to heat up the leftover, I know you must be starved. Bathroom's by your left, you go first... or he goes first .. or... " Realizing that she had been blabbing, she stopped mid sentence and went to get food ready.
Maopa had showered, dressed in one of Flora's gowns and was now seated to a sumptuous meal, she was starting to feel like the worst was finally over. " So let me start from the beginning " she said in between mouthfuls.
" Well if you have the time, you can finish eating first." Flora said, she hoped she was doing the right thing. Her first impulse when she had seen Maopa and recognized her as the woman from the TV had been to call the police - but she had trusted Jaachi and it had been him who had brought the lady to her house. She stood up, leaving the woman to her meal and wondered into the kitchen, touching pans and pots. She was not really doing anything, the dishes had already been done and the kitchen tidied for the day, she was just feeling nervous.
"Flora I can't thank you enough for trusting me on this." Jaachi said from the door way.
Startled, she turned sharpy to face him, feeling her heart skip a beat. He had showered and since she had no male clothes in the house and she had put his own in the washing machine so he was stuck with her bathrobe. It was a little small for him and stretched around his shoulders, emphasizing his powerful chest. She swallowed, overwhelmed by emotions she couldn't understand. " It was the least I could do - besides I owe you one for that Lion I caused to be shot down."
" Ah Venom ! " His full lips curved in a smile. " That was the name of the lion."
"Sounds more like the name of a snake to me."
He laughed outrightly. " Tell that to my mother, she was the one who named the beast." She was searching his eyes with a shy boldness that was both vulnerable and sweet and he wondered not for the first time if bringing Maopa to her house had put her in danger. He had known she would help him, she had that basic goodness that was so rare, it was almost extinct. He had visited her once, spent time with her and in that short time, he had gotten to know her. He felt like he was using her, imposing on her kind nature and the thought of that hurt him more than he cared to admit.
"Why are you starting at me like that ?"
" How? "
" Like I'm some lost lamb you feel sorry for."
Jaachi sighed, a pained expression on his face. "Look Flora, I'll find a place tommorow for Maopa you don't have to - "
" I want to help." It came out a little more forcefully than she had intended but she must have gotten through to Jaachi because he nodded then Maopa walked in before they could both say any other thing.
" My name is Maopa Will-Inshar and I am from the West". Maopa started the long waited for explanation. They were all in the sitting room with Jaachi a Flora seated while she paced the room. " I used to be part of a select number of computer science engineers in a unit under the ministry of information called the Cyber Surveillance Unit. - you could call that an equivalent of the Cyber Military here except we were hackers. We hacked into foreign computers, invaded intelligence systems, created viruses, we've even hacked into the CIA data base - twice and left without a trace. My problems started when I hacked into the personal computer of my director. I found out he had been selling information to the highest bidder, he had made quite a fortune out of it - "
" Let me guess, you couldn't keep you mouth shut." Jaachi cut in
" Yes. I was naive, too trusting. I confronted him about it, I threatened to report him to the ministry of he did not stop."
" Did he?" Flora asked impulsively then waived her hand. " Sorry go on."
" He told me he was going to stop and I actually believed him then the next day two men from the criminal investigative services showed up at my house, they accused me of consorting with enemy intelligence - with East Hendosia to be precise." She laughed mirthlesly. " Ironic isn't it. Because of my position at the unit, they set up this panel to look into my case..... I wasn't even going to have a fair trial, they wanted to just lock me up and trow away the key. "
" I don't understand, who is they ?" Flora was confused.
" The cabal... sect... Whatever you'll call it. You didn't think the director was in it alone did you ?" Jaachi answered.
"When I had of the bombing, I was sure they were going to stick it on me, so I went underground but had to come out because of that television broadcast we all saw. I was picked up by patrol, detained and questioned but then I escaped this evening ....... So that's pretty much it."
" Oh my !... So you would never be able to go to your home country again ?" Flora asked aghast. She couldn't imagine how she would have felt in Maopa's shoes.
" Well she could try to clear her name - "
" Or East Hendosia could win the war. " Maopa finished for Jaachi.
" I don't understand ? " Flora said
" If East Hendosia wins the war, they would be an independent sovereign nation like the West and all crimes committed in relation to the war except murder would be pardoned - that is I will be officially free."
" I see. Why can't we just explain everything to the Cyber Military, I'm sure they'll understand.". Flora said enthusiastically.
Jaachi had to laugh. " Yeah well, I wish the world were that easy. "
" West Hendosia could offer a ransom for me, I've seen it happen before. I don't think they director feels safe knowing I could be anywhere. Also once the warfare intelligence find out I'm from the West, the might want to send me back as a double agent - "
" But they wouldn't if they know you're a wanted person there. " Flora cut in.
" They may try to anyway, they'll have nothing to loose." Jaachi answered
Flora was mad. " How can they just .... It's just not fair !"
" Yeah. " Jaachi shook his head. " The world isn't."
***
Three hour later, Jaachi stood in front of his door,. weary to his bones. He had trekked home from Flora's house, not wanting to borrow her car or do anything that would trace him to her. Wondering what he was going to tell Lola, he did however know what he was going to tell the Cyber Military when they came for him, he was surprised they were not already there. He had even expected them to pick him up on his way home, he had not been hiding -. hiding from the Cyber Military would have not only been dangerous but unnecessary. He opened the door and got in. She was sleeping on the sofa that faced the door, she must have fell asleep waiting for him and he wondered if she had been angry, waiting to start an argument or genuinely worried. He picked her up and was about to carry her to the bed room when his door swung open and four plain clothes came inside.
" Why didn't you knock ?" He asked continuing to the bedroom. Lola woke up as he tried to lay her on the bed. Shrugging at her look of enquiry, he stepped into the sitting room.
" Sir you are wanted for questioning, please come with us. " One of the plainclothes said, probably the one in charge. He sounded so text book, like he was repeating what he was told to say.
" What's wrong Jaachi ?" Lola asked fearfully. " This Men were here earlier, they said they were looking for you, asked if I had seen that wanted woman, what's going on Jaachi ? "
" I'm sorry Lola." Jaachi said and he meant it. "I promise I'll explain later." Turning to the officers, he patted one on the back. "Let's go boys."
Ten minutes later, Jaachi was sitting in an empty interrogation room. there were cameras in the corners of the room and he wondered who was on the other side watching him. He was thirsty, weary and he was beginning to wish he had taken Flora's offer of food back when he could have. The thought of Flora brought a smile to his lips, she was a rarity in the world. It had probably not occured to her that he would be picked up by the intelligence, he knew or she would have been distraught. He wondered when they would come to question him, he had watched movies where they left people like this for hours, breaking thier will then the person interrogating would waltz in and get his answers on a platter of gold. Jaachi almost laughed, he did not have answers for them, at least not the ones they wanted.
The door finally swung open and an old lady of medium hieght walked in. Not exactly who Jaachi was expecting.
" Well how come I've never seen you before ? He asked her.
" Because there's so much about this government that you don't know. " She replied as she took a seat opposite him. There was something very unnatural about her voice, it was like a programed voice, one of those programed voices you heard from android assistants, only those were young women's voices, hers was that of an old woman.
" Prince Jaachi, were you contacted by - "
" Let's cut to the bullshit " Jaachi said, cutting her off. " I went jogging around my house, Maopa called, asked me to bring a car so I did. I know I was supposed to blow the whistle on her - but well, I didn't I wanted to at least hear her out first, so I pull up with a car, picked her up and she pulls a g*n on me, tells me to keep driving so I do, a few minutes later, I see the copter, she makes me get out and we climb into a dumb and wait for you guys to leave then we come out, the cars gone so she doesn't need me anymore and so she allows me to go. "
" And through all this, it didn't occur to you to try to over power her ? - "
" Over power her? I don't know if you read my file but I'm a computer engineer... Before now, I was a top footballer - quit that. What I'm saying is that woman's some though stuff and I'm not... do you like get the picture ? "
" And why didn't you pick up when the Cyber Military called ? "
" Yeah, I'm sorry like I told you before, I wanted to hear what Maopa had to say."
" There's just one more thing. You claim Maopa released you immediately after the helicopter left, that should around eight o'clock but you came back to you came back to your house at three minutes past one. What were you doing between this time interval ? "
Jaachi stared at the ceiling for very long. " I was trying to trace her. "
" And did you have any luck ? "
" No."
