Chapter 3 - MAYA

Violet, Rylee and me were checked into a room together that Jace had booked for us, I assume him and Levi were sharing. Our room was on the 60th floor, way up near the middle of the building, so we had amazing views of the city, though I was looking forward to going to the club later as the club was on the top floors and would have the most mind-blowing views I bet…..

Our room was simple but still gorgeous, everything so modern, three single beds, a massive window overlooking the busy city below. A long unit along the wall at the end of the bed with a TV on, and to the other end of the room a bathroom, with all the fancy stuff imaginable.

We’d spent the afternoon in the spa, then in our room chilling out, Jace and Levi had been in the casino. Now it was time to get ready to go have some more fun, we had all already had a shower and were now dressed, and doing our make-up and hair ready for going out.

I was wearing my long black curls loose again, always easier to do that with my almost untameable mane of curls I had been blessed with. I had chosen to go for dark, shadowy eye make-up, with thick heavy eyeliner, and dark mascara too, Plus a deep red lipstick. I had picked out some silver stiletto heels, and my dress was a mid-thigh length deep-blue halter neck style dress that I had borrowed from Violet, it was beautiful and I felt amazing wearing it!

I looked to my friends, Rylee had her long blond hair twisted up into a high pony tail, her make up fresh, with thick eyeliner and heavy eyeliner, and pink, glossy lipstick. She had a short black dress on, with pink stiletto heels, a similar colour to the lipstick she had on I noticed. She looked so different to the usual casual girl I was used too!

And Violet, she looked gorgeous, she was in a short, red mini dress, with thin spaghetti type straps, it clung to all her curves. And she had shoes on of the same colour. Her long brown hair was straightened and lay loose down her back. Her make-up was sultry and, her lips topped with a deep and dark red lipstick.

We looked good! Would definitely have no issue getting into the club, and I knew we’d be having some fun! I can’t wait to get in to the club… see the bar… see the view… have a drinK... do some dancing with my friends… and forget my worries…

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

“And that will be the guys!” Violet grinned “so excited!!” I couldn’t help but smile at her as she went to open the door.

Jace and Levi walked into our room, both dressed in dark jeans, Levi in a black shirt, Jace in a white shirt. Both looked good, being warriors they were muscly and toned, and their shirts only went to enhance this.

Though I had a feeling that was exactly what they planned to do, probably on the look out for some female attention while at the club tonight so I doubted we would be seeing much of them once we were in there!

“Wow, look at you three!” Jace says “ would have walked by you on the street not realising it was you!” he joked.

“Looking good girlies” Levi grinned. I see him look at me, his eyes wandering up and down my body, which is somewhat unusual for him I have to admit, he realises I have seen him. He smiles awkwardly, then winks and looks away. Weird……

“Let’s go get some drinks” Levi quickly said, heading to the door again. I’m not going to argue with that!

We make our way down the corridor of the hotel. It is gorgeous, all done in a modern grey and white, with lots of silver accessories. I could get used to staying places like this! we approach the elevator and Violet presses the button to call for it, and we stand waiting. Again I feel Levi’s eyes on me… weird… but I chose to look away and ignore it, not wanting to make things weird.

“Remember what I said girls, yeah? Be sensible, don’t be drinking too much. We’ll leave you to have a good time, but mind link us if you need us and we will be there as soon as we can…” Jace says.

Mind link was a skill that we have as werewolves that was a blessing really. It is like an ability to communicate mind to mind I guess, without saying the words out loud, but it is only between those within your own pack. It is helpful when you are shifted into your wolf, or if you are in trouble and don’t have your phone with you. It allows you to discuss things between you without others hearing which can be helpful if in awkward situations, especially when with other packs or you want to discuss something in private. So if something were to happen tonight and we needed the guys help then it would definitely be helpful - though I imagine they are hoping we did not need to disturb their night out drinking and chatting up the ladies!!

The elevator arrives and we step in, heading up to the 100th floor of the hotel where the entrance to the club is. The club is spread over three floors, and was known as one of the best in the area. It is popular for both humans and werewolves, as was the casino. There was already a queue to get into the club when we stepped from the elevator, it looked like our first drinks may be a little while off yet…..

We stand in line with the guys. Again I feel eyes on me. This time when I look up, I see Jace watching me, I look to him, eyebrows raised, he quickly looks away.

Sorry Maya, you look so different all dressed up! he mindlinks me, I assume, so the others can’t hear him. I wonder if that is why Levi had been staring?

No worries. Bit weird, but yeah I know I don’t normally look quite like this. I link him back smiling.

He looks back to me with a smile. Sorry, don’t want to make you think I’m weird. You look beautiful everyday hunni, just took my breath away I guess tonight as you look completely different, and not in a creepy way. He links.

I think Levi maybe thought the same, as he did a double take too. Then couldn’t get out of the room quick enough. I link him to reassure him.

I see him smile and his eyes glaze over, so I wonder if he is linking Levi to ask him what had happened with me.

“Looking forward to dancing the night away!” Violet says to me, wrapping her arms around my waist. I grin back in response, I know exactly what she means!

The line has gradually moved its way forward. Clearly the club is popular, but I just want to get inside now. I can hear the music from here now and it is making me want to get in there and start enjoying ourselves. We are at the front now. Two doorman are talking to Jace and Levi, I can’t clearly hear what they’re saying over the music, but I can see them laughing. Then they wave us in, so I follow our friends inside the club.

Wow, inside is busy! People are all over, there are multiple dancefloors, the edges bordered with booths and tables, a few bars I can see spotted around. Plus stairs to the other floors. There is a massive glass window that makes up the entirety of one wall, offering an amazing view of the city. From up here at night seeing it all lit up it is enough to blow your mind!

“Right what you girls want to drink?” Jace asks as we head further into the club, “first drink from me then will let you go enjoy your night” he grins.

I laugh, he clearly wants to be free of us to go enjoy himself he means.

“Beer is good” I say smiling.

“yeah think sticking to beer is best” Jace says with a wink. He heads to the bar to buy us drinks.

“Beaut’, can I speak to you a minute?” I hear Levi speaking.

I turn to him with a smile, “sure what is up?”

“ Jace said about before…..” he looks to me awkwardly “it isn’t quite the same as with him Maya, he sees you like a sister”

What? I figured Levi did too seeing as he was Jace’s best friend and had been around the whole time growing up much like Jace.

“You been coming to mind a little more than you used to of late beaut’, then I saw you tonight and wow, I struggled to take my eyes off you, sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable. I know you’re younger than me, and isn’t a good time right now, but maybe some time, maybe if you fancy getting out, I could take you out for a drink or bowling or cinema?” he looks down looking really uncomfortable “you know what Maya, forget I said anything, enjoy your night” and with that he walked away.

Wait….. was he saying he liked me?! Was he asking me out?!..... why walk away?!.... I would probably have said I’d think about it at least….though he had just turned 24, I was just about to turn 20, there was a bit of an age difference, not that it ever seemed to matter when we were hanging out together……

Levi…wait! I mindlinked him, wanting to talk to him some more.

I said leave it he links me back bluntly. I bit my lip, trying to fight back the tears threatening in my eyes. Don’t cry Maya please, lets leave it for now, yeah?

Where is he? Can he see me? I look around to see where he is, and our eyes meet as I see him approaching us with Jace now, bringing beers.

“here you go girls” Jace says as we are passed some beers.

Levi passes me mine. Friends? he links

I smile at him and nod.

Yeah, friends is probably better……
