Chapter 9 Just as Jesse and a damp Shelby were coming into the condo through the patio door carrying a pile of blankets, Denny walked into the living room. Jesse noticed his keys were in his hand. He wasn’t dressed in flight blues. “How come you smell like skunk?” Denny asked as Shelby trotted across to him. He ignored her greeting as he always did. Jesse repressed the urge to give a sarcastic retort. “Shelby and Clyde met up with one last night,” he said instead. “You just getting home?” “Yeah, just walked in the door.” “You wore those to work?” Jesse said, indicating Denny’s shorts and sleeveless tee.
