18 - The Next Morning

King Silas     After cleaning up the cottage, I was more ready to get out of there than I had ever been.  I don’t know if it was because of the sadness hanging over me, or because I wanted to check on Alana.  Either way, I felt the strong need to get the hell out of there and head back to the castle.     As soon as I got there, I noticed right away that Alana was no longer sleeping on the couch, and she was nowhere in sight.  Instantly, a wave of panic hit me like a tsunami, and I started frantically searching for her.       I checked my bedroom first, and I could smell the slightest hint of her scent in there.  I followed the scent to my bathroom, but she wasn’t in there.  However, I could tell she had taken a bath at some point.     When I left my bedroom, I followed her lingering sc
