6:58 a.m.
“Hey, why are you two without Daisy today? That’s odd.” Nathan questioned after seeing the two seated on their seats already. “She went out without you?” Theia teased before chuckling.
Even with their comments, Calvin remained silent while playing games on his phone and is casually leaning back on his seat and Eric’s focused on the windows with his headphones on. Seeing their lack or reactions, Theia rolled her eyes. “Rude.”
“But you can’t blame them, though.” Nathan said before sitting, followed by Theia who’s now glaring at him. “They’re busy in their own worlds, Theia. You can’t just break easily it if they’re too focus.”
“And besides,” he paused, smirking at her who just rolled her eyes once again. “What?” she asked before crossing her arms. “You’re not their flower.”
His smirk faded when Theia’s hand smacked the back of his, causing for a wince escape his lips. “I know I’m not Daisy. That’s why I’m asking them cause the flower’s not here, stupid head. I’m concerned okay?” She ranted before rolling her eyes once again.
Before they can continue their conversation, their professor walked in, silencing the class with his smile. “Settle down class, don’t be too energetic.” Sir Mav said before laughing, causing the most of the class, especially the girls, laugh along with him.
Noticing the professor’s presence, Eric removed his headphones and hang it around his neck while Calvin ended his game and put it back on his pocket, now sitting properly to avoid unnecessary attention.
Putting his laptop and his huge lecture book down, Sir Mav scanned the room until his eyes landed at the back. “Is Middlemist absent? She hasn’t mailed me any excuse for her absence today.”
With that, he clicked on his laptop and went straight to his mails. “Only Everett excused himself because of having a fever. No one else aside from him.” He added.
Suspecting that something’s wrong, Theia looked at Eric. “Hey, where is she?” she whispered, slightly moving sidewards to talk to him. “She hates being absent and she always messages Sir Mav, me and Nate whenever she’s not gonna make it to school.”
“My gut tells me these two is connected.” Nathan added, making her look to him who’s looking at the mentioned people. “You’re always with her for the past days. I’m pretty sure you know something.”
“She went here alone.” Eric answered. “She went out before us.” Calvin seconded. “Alone? Before you two?” Theia repeated. “So you were from Daisy’s house?” Nathan asked, his tone no longer playful.
“I believe that Lee, Edwards, Anderson and Strauss were her close friends.” Sir Mav mentioned, making the four look at in front of them. “Do you know why she’s not here right now?” he curiously asked.
“She’s just late, sir.” Nathan said with a smile, purposely lying to hide the fact that they know nothing. “Yes sir. Her mother messaged me that she’s going to be late because of personal reasons.” Theia added with an equally sweet and believable smile.
Nodding at their words, Sir Mav smiled and opened his book. “Okay then, just pass her the notes if she’ll be here any time now.” He said as he flipped the pages to go to their assigned lesson for the day. “Class, turn your book at page 72.”
“Why did you said that she’s late? What if she’s really absent?” Theia whispered while pretending to read the lesson. “Then we can say that she won’t be able to make it because they changed plans or something.” Nathan whispered back.
That’s a good reason. Theia thought, the professor’s words of lecture seemed to mean nothing as her brain’s filled with questions, conclusions and other thoughts that left no space for the lessons to fit in. But it’s really weird to receive no text from Daisy, especially if it’s about her school performance.
7:23 a.m.
While in class, the silence of the four is unusual. Eric and Calvin were quieter, now that the girl who keeps up with their pace is not with them. Calvin tapped his finger at his table while leaning on his chair when his phone beeped. Discreetly, he took his phone and opened it.
Daisy: Are you looking for her right now? After reading the message, his brows met.
Calvin: The hell are you talking about? Not without a minute passing, she immediately replied, causing for him to look at Eric and kick his chair which made him glare at him. “Group chat.” Calvin stated.
Thinking that it’s urgent, he secretly took his phone and opened it before going straight to their group chat.
Daisy: Playing dumb aren’t we? How come you forgot us already? The message was followed by an image of Daisy tied up in a chair while her eyes were looking at the side as if avoiding the camera, her mouth was sealed by a duct tape and her long sleeves were folded up to her elbows, and her pants were also folded up to her knees to show her blue and purplish bruises.
Seeing that, Eric put his headphones on his table before raising his hand to get their professor’s attention. “What is it Anderson? Any questions regarding the topic?” Sir Mav asked with a considerate smile.
“Sorry sir, but I’ve received a message from my mother that she needs me for an important meeting. I need to go out for now and I think I can go back before the afternoon classes starts.” He excused, causing for their professor to nod in understanding.
Knowing his plan, Calvin raised his hand as well. “Do you have any concerns as well?” Sir Mav questioned.
“I’ve received the same message sir. It looks like the meeting Anderson was supposed to attend is the meeting with my father. I will come there to serve as my father’s assistant because he wanted me to witness a formal meeting to train me.” He reasoned.
“I see.” Sir Mav said, nodding for the second time. “I have no problem with that.” He said, smiling at the two. “You can go now.”
With their professor’s approval, the two stood up and didn’t bothered taking their bags and just brought their phones with them. “Seriously? They didn’t feel bothered about Daisy at all?” Theia muttered as she watched the two walked normally as if worrying about nothing.
“Calm down.” Nathan whispered after hearing her. “Let’s just message Daisy when the first subject’s done.” He said, trying to console her but she just glared at her which made him sigh. “Just focus for now, okay?”
Meanwhile, the two who silently passed by the classroom suddenly ran the moment that they’re at the stairs where no students were at sight. “Damn it, that’s your fault!” Eric said, his voice deep and their footsteps resonates at the area.
“Shut up. You could’ve just stopped her from going there back then!” Calvin replied as they swiftly run to move from one floor to another. “Now those punks used her!”
Cussing under their breaths, they reached the ground floor and continued running to their cars who’s facing each other. “Let’s take my car.” The two said in unison, causing them to stop in the middle of their cars to temporarily catch their breaths.
“My car’s faster.” Eric reasoned, pertaining to his maroon car, his blank eyes looking at Calvin as he wiped the bead off sweat on his forehead. “Use mine. I have fighting weapons there.” Calvin argued as he wiped the sweat on his chin.
“You’re a gangster, aren’t you?” Eric accused with his usual monotonous voice. “You’re a tyrant, aren’t you?” Calvin fired back, his voice matching Eric’s tone.
“We need to go now. Jut use my car.” Calvin stated. Eric, on the other hand, already made his way towards Calvin’s car. “Stop talking and open this stupid car.” He said, already standing beside the car door.
Calvin took his car key out and pressed the button to automatically unlock his silver car and for the both of them to get in. With the both of them inside, Calvin turned to the backseat and checked if his weapons are there.
“Just pick between those.” He said, now looking at Eric who’s busy on his phone. “Just drive. I’ll check their location.” Eric replied as he continued pressing on his phone.
As they successfully went out, they were not at the intersection and the red light is currently on display. “Turn right. They’ve put her at the abandoned building at the Terrain Avenue.” Eric informed, causing for Calvin to quickly turn right after the light turned green.
Eric then dialed a number on his phone. “Secure the area around Terrain Ave. Call the police and make sure that they’re in the abandoned building within 20 minutes.” He said after his call was answered. After saying that, he then ended the call.
“Why 20?” Calvin questioned as he turned left to go to the said building. “You think we can beat them up if the police are already there?” Eric answered in a questioning manner.
“Settle you score with them and make sure they won’t have the guts of coming to you again.” Eric said as he looked ahead of them with his usual blank stare, but a hint of anger is present. “That girl’s an sss but she can’t take up a whole group of bastards alone.”
“I know they’re dumb but I never thought they’re that low.” Calvin said as he smoothly moved past one car to another, the building is just a few seconds away from them. “Abducting? That’s disgusting.”
Soon enough, he entered the abandoned building through the door less building and just with a wide entrance made by the broken walls and overall structure. His stop made his fast car create a loud screech as they halted meters away from the gang.
“See? I told you they’ll come for you.” The leader who introduced himself as Skull said, smirking at the girl who’s just glaring at him. I never said they won’t. Daisy thought, unable to speak due to her taped mouth.
“Well look!” Skull exclaimed, his hand gesturing at the two who went out of their cars and is walking towards the. “Serpent is here!” he said, followed by a laugh which made his underlings laugh as well.
“How much time do we have left?” Calvin whispered just loud enough for him to hear, pertaining to the 20-minute time Eric told the person he called.
Briefly lifting his wrist to check the time, his eyes went back to the leader who’s beside Daisy. “17.”
“Who’s that? You’re underling?” Skull mocked, pertaining to Eric. “But he’s not weak. Is he perhaps,” he paused, his eyes shifting to Eric and Calvin. “Your partner?” he asked. “You decided to have one now?” he scoffed.
“Why would I need one when I represent death and poison itself?” Calvin asked, his voice is dangerously low, his flaming eyes fixed on the leader and his hands carries a pair of daggers.
“So he’s here because of this girl?” Skull asked, his hand harshly grabbing her hair which made her raise her head and glare at him due to the pain. I’ll beat you to pulp the moment I’m not tied. She mentally vowed.
“You’re getting lower and lower every time I meet you, Skull.” Calvin commented, his hands playing with the daggers by twirling them and turning them. “Release her.”
Skull laughed loudly. “I thought the King of the Underworld said that he doesn’t care about anyone else that’s why he fights alone, huh?” he sarcastically asked.
“I thought you said that, King Serpent?” he mocked, letting go of her hair and firmly held his huge metal pipe. “Should I challenge you so I’ll be the king now?” he asked before laughing once again.
Because of him letting his guard down, Eric’s bullet nearly pierced his left eye if he didn’t purposely miss it. “You’re all bark, dog. Shut up.” He said, his hands skillfully playing the pair of guns he’s holding.
Since when did he knew who to use a gun?! Where’s the Eric that fits with the description in my diary about the boy I grew up with?! Daisy thought as she stared at him with wide eyes.
Holy- Her surprised expression then looked at Calvin when he chuckled in a low tone. And is he really the Calvin I know? He seemed…different.
“Skull, listen here.” Calvin said, a deadly smirk displayed on his lips. “This Gray Wolf isn’t as kind as the other underworlders you’ve encountered.” He said, his tone mocking and threatening at the same time. “He’s misfortune and pain itself.”
“Gray Wolf sounds lame.” Eric commented before he quickly pulled the trigger to shoot at the goons surrounding them, all having the bullet passing through their arms or legs, giving them wounds. “Just start.”
Because of his actions, the fight that is much more dangerous that the first fight Daisy witness started.
Guns, metal pipes, knives, daggers, baseball bats and even chains were present as the men’s weapons. What the-?! I didn’t plan to star on any action movie! She mentally panicked as she watched them with wide eyes.
“You’re really a dictator.” Calvin commented as he created a long and deep slice at the guy who’s aiming to stab him first, the two were against each other’s back and served at their plan: Calvin being the close-range fighter and Eric the long-range fighter.
“You made them start this and forget about their worthless boss.” He dissed before chuckling, his dagger now wounding the next guy’s leg. The two switches position from time to time to avoid any of them getting hurt.
“You’re the one at fault, punk.” Eric answered as he shoots the gun wielders first before any of them will shoot them.
“You should’ve told us that you’re a king of whatever useless group.” He said, ducking down to avoid the guy who’s supposed to hit him with a metal pipe and used his leg to kick him and make him lose his balance before shooting him at his arm.
While at the ground, he used his chance to shoot the legs of all the guys that he can see within his range. “You shouldn’t have included us in your business.”
“But you’re Gray Wolf now.” Calvin said as he expertly moves his daggers to slice one guy after the other. “I bet your name’s gonna get famous in the Underworld Society.” He said and switched his hold at his dagger to stab the guy’s stomach who’s ready to hit him.
“I don’t care.” Eric thought as he turned to Calvin’s direction and shot the guy who’s targeting to punch him with the brass knuckles at his left. “This just became my business cause that sss’s involved.”
Not gonna lie. They’re so cool. Daisy thought as she watched them with amazed eyes. But her amazement was cut short when Skull took her hair once again, causing her to wince and glare at him. What the hell is his problem with my frickin’ hair?!
“Alright stop!” he shouted, causing for all of them to pause. He roamed his eyes and all his 20 underlings were either stabbed, sliced or shot, followed by the sight of several bullets tainted with red blood lying on the ground.
“You think you’re cool and unstoppable now, aren’t you?” Skull chuckled, his eyes became dark and filled with rage as he looked at Calvin whose daggers were now filled with blood then at Eric who’s reloaded his guns two times cause of shooting them twice to make sure wounded enough to get slow or unable to fight anymore.
“Well damn.” He smirked as he let go of his pipe and took the knife hidden at his wrist. “Let me tell you you’re not.” He said as he raised the knife that is a few inches away from Daisy’s neck.
