-August 03: Monday-
Eric: I just did you a favor by letting you hitch a ride cause you always ask me to do that ever since we were kids. So why will those punks forbid you now?
Calvin: Why the hell will they want to meet me in the first place? It’s not like I want to know them or anything.
Seeing their replies, Daisy sighed and shook her head, her eyes just glued on her phone’s screen and s just plainly staring at the words present on it. “These two is as impolite as they can be.” She muttered. “What did I even expect.”
Daisy: Because, they became stricter than before and these twins you’re pertaining to are like brother too me so I should follow them, Eric. And Calvin, just talk to them until they’re satisfied cause they’re more stubborn than me, believe me.
Calvin: I didn’t mess with you so why would they bother to talk to me? I don’t need more people wanting to talk to me for a long time. That’s dumb.
“What’s with his reply?” Daisy scoffed. “It’s not like I snitched on him and told Eros and Aaron to beat him up or something.” She said before rolling her eyes. Just as she’s about to type back, Eric’s response appeared.
Eric: Fine. It’s not like I care. Less load for me. Thank those twins of misfortune for me.
“Is it their talent to annoy and offend people?” Daisy said as she saw his reply. “If that’s true then I can even help to make it more acceptable and be considered as an oh-so-real fact.” She ranted as her fingers fiercely typed her answer. “I hope this ice dudes melt.”
Daisy: Well excuse you, people. They’re neither dumb nor twins of misfortune. I just want you to know that they’re coming with me so bye.
“I can insult my cousins but I can’t bear people saying that to them.” Daisy stated before turning her phone off and put it back on her table. “See? If I immediately messaged them last Saturday or yesterday, I might’ve lost my goodnight sleep.”
Rolling her eyes, she just continued wiping her hair with the towel that’s wrapped on her shoulders. “Don’t blame me if you two will get stuck with them until you won’t get in our classes.” She muttered, still glaring at nowhere.
After fixing her messed hair and properly combed it, she stood up and fixed her cream long sleeves and straightened up her black shorts before taking her phone and put it in her bag.
Calm down, don’t ruin today’s mood. She thought as she took her bag before going straight downstairs, purposely earlier than her usual routine due to her cousins that stayed with them since Saturday.
While she’s walking, their loud voices and laughter resonated through the whole house. They’re having so much fun. She thought as she smiled, also happy with the fact that her cousins’ existence made their home livelier than before.
“-so that’s why mom lets us stay wherever we want!” Aaron ended with a grin, causing her parents to laugh once again. “But still, if we won’t tell them where we’re staying, we’ll have our credit cards removed and our allowance will cut off for a month.” Eros said before sighing.
“What are you guys talking about?” Daisy asked which earned their attention. “What breakfast do you want, sweetie? There’s fried rice and hot dogs and then there’s plain rice and sunny side up egg.” Her mom questioned, gesturing at the leftover meals.
Looking at the two options, Daisy took a seat and pointed at the fried rice and hot dogs. “So what are you guys talking about?” she asked while her mom filled her plate with food. “I just heard about aunt Emmy letting you two stay wherever you want.”
“We’re just telling them how we managed to make our parents let us stay here for some days.” Aaron answered. “And that’s because mom said she doesn’t care where we’ll stay as long as we’ll tell where and they are sure that it’s somewhere safe.” Eros seconded.
Knowing their personalities, Daisy nodded as she has her first bite. “That’s Aunt Emmy for you.” She said with a smile. “She and mom are both cool but in different ways.” She said before letting out a laugh.
“And what’s that supposed to mean?” her mom asked, her brow raised and her arms crossed, plainly staring at her. “Emmelyn and I were both cool but in what different ways, hm?” she asked, purely intrigued with Daisy’s comment.
Uh oh. Daisy knew she pushed her mom’s curiosity button. “Aunt Emmy’s cool because she’s chill and unpredictable.” She said, taking a sip from her morning cup of milk. “And you’re cool because you’re you and your reactions were unpredictable.”
“I didn’t get your description about me but go on, I’ll accept it.” Her mother responded before chuckling. “Now go and eat. This is the first time you’re 20 minutes earlier than your usual so you should make the most of it.”
Nodding at her mom’s words, Daisy continued eating while her cousins’ playful bickering and her parents’ business conversation acted as her background sounds. Despite the noises, she ate peacefully and satisfied with the warm and homey vibes she’s experiencing right now.
After 15 minutes, she’s done eating and was about to finish her cup of milk when the silence came due to the sound of the doorbell. “Will aunt Emmy fetch you today?” she questioned, lowering her mug and looked at her cousins with a smirk.
“Haha funny.” Eros sarcastically replied. “We’re not kids.” Aaron replied with a frown. “He might be considered as one but not me.” Eros quickly defended, his thumb pointing at his brother.
Shaking her head, Daisy stood up and headed to the camera system to check who are their unexpected visitor is. Seeing two familiar faces, her brows met in confusion as she silently observed the two quarreling guys.
“I won again. Are you that dumb to get defeated for the second time?” Calvin proudly said, his smirk made his statement more offending. “My car stopped first i***t. I won.” Eric said, glaring at the guy who’s visibly belittling him.
What in the world? “What are you two doing here?” she asked, turning the speaker on so she could speak. Hearing her, the two faced the lens. “Where’s those twins of misfortunes?” Eric asked.
After blinking her eyes several times to process what he asked, Daisy sighed. “That’s your reason why you’re here?” she blankly asked. “Check your phone.” Calvin said. “Explaining’s tiring so just read.”
Shaking her head, Daisy agreed. “Fine. Wait for me.” She said before turning the speaker off and went back to her seat to take her phone from her bag to check their group chat. Don’t tell me they’ve made each other come here again?
“Who are they?” her dad asked, flipping the newspaper’s page to read the next part. “Eric and Calvin.” She said as she turned towards the door while her eyes were still focused on her phone.
Calvin: I still don’t have a clue why I’m included in your little family discussion.
Eric: I’m not part of their family so beats me. If you want to know then talk to those misfortunes so you’ll get it.
Calvin: Who are they? Calling them misfortunes must’ve have a reason behind it.
“Why are they here?” the twins asked at the same time, both wearing the same expression mixed with suspicion and anger. “Let them in, honey.” Her mother encouraged with a sweet smile.
“I want to see them too.” Her father agreed, causing for her to stop reading and look at them with blank eyes. “Seriously?” she asked before releasing a sigh. “I’ll fetch them.” She said and walked, now continuing reading their conversation.
“I should ready the questions we’ll ask them.” Aaron said which made his twin nod. “If they won’t cooperate, I’ll use force.” Eros said, meaning every word he just stated.
Eric: Aaron’s a basketball player and a flirt. Eros’ a soccer player and a thug.
“What kind of description is this?” Daisy commented, rolling her eyes after seeing the words used to introduce her cousins. “He’s not that wrong but still he should’ve used better words.” She muttered.
Calvin: And you’re an antisocial tyrant. You fit with them cause y’all have different personalities. I bet it’s gonna be quite a show. I want to see it myself.
“As if this guy’s not an antisocial guy either.” Daisy scoffed as she continued scrolling down to see the conversation between the two, her eyes shifting between her phone and the ground to continue walking towards the gate.
Eric: Shut up antisocial bastard. Go and see for yourself then. It’s not like you can shut up and just watch those twins talk all day long.
Calvin: Wanna race to Middlemist’s house? The twins must be there since she said they’ll come with her. Feel free to say no if you’re chickening out.
Eric: I should be the one saying that. You’ll definitely lose. Say goodbye to your useless pride, moron.
“How childish can these two be?” Daisy muttered to herself before speeding up her pace to reach the gate. As she opened the gate, her glare met the two blank eyes of the guy who’s staring back at her. “Seriously? You raced here just because of that?”
Calvin just shrugged and walked past her, visibly not in the mood to entertain any conversations any longer. Having no response from the first one, Daisy rolled her eyes and looked at Eric. “Gonna say something?”
And just like Calvin, he just walked past her and left her alone. With a sigh, Daisy just grunted and harshly closed the door, leaving a loud sound from the impact. Now I wish Theia and Nathan were the two who rang the doorbell.
Adjusting her pace to catch up those whose only a few steps away from the door, she basically started running to lead the two and not the other way around. Finally, she reached them who’s now standing in front of the closed door.
“Be nice, okay?” she warned, her hand clutching the door knob as she slightly catches her breath from her unexpected morning run. “Listen, My mom’s just a little childish and act like a teenage girl but she’s good, dad’s a little weird which varies from serious or not so he’s also kinda good, the twins-”
Her short introduction about her family was cut short when the two acted on their own. “It’s not like they don’t know me.” Eric smirked and removed her hand before opening the door and inviting himself in. “What the actual f-”
“Chill. Your mom knows me.” Calvin said as he stared at her who’s glaring at Eric’s back. “I’m sure your dad isn’t that bad so stop looking like a mad grandma.” He teased with a smirk as he ignored the death glare being given by the girl who’s affected before following Eric.
Breathe in. Breathe out. Daisy mentally repeated as she calmed herself. Don’t worry. They’re not idiots. They’ve fooled your mom before, remember? They can do that again. For the first time, trust them that they won’t mess anything up. After conditioning her mind, she heaved a sigh before walking in.
Despite being some seconds later than the two, what she saw was nothing more than a silent group. “What’s with the silence?” she questioned as she walked towards them, returning to her seat and looked at the two who’s having a staring contest with her cousins.
“Calvin Strauss?” Eros asked, his voice definitely deeper and sounds stern, earning him a nod from the guy who’s not backing down from his intimidation. “Eros Harrison.” Eros introduced, stretching out his hand for a handshake.
“The soccer player thug.” Calvin stated, stretching his hand out take his offer. His comment made Eros tighten his grasp at his hand. “Eric said that.” Calvin said, equally tightening his grasp.
Did he forget that my parents are here? Daisy thought as she nearly facepalmed due to his behavior. Learn to hold back, Calvin.
“Oh? What did he tell you about me then?” Aaron asked, seriously looking at Eric who’s just silently staring back. “You’re a basketball player and a flirt.” Calvin honestly answered, causing Daisy to lower her head and sigh. Seriously, Calvin?
“I’m not wrong, though.” Eric said, his gaze now at Daisy’s parents. “Good morning, auntie and uncle.” He said with a polite smile. “We’re just casually talking and some jokes like that is normal for us.” He said, flashing his smile.
“Yes auntie, and hello sir, I’m Calvin Strauss.” He spoke next, also looking like a harmless person with his polite greetings and his smile. “Good morning.”
Her mother laughed and waved her hand at the two of them. “It’s nice to see you again, Calvin. I hope you can come here more often.” She said with a sweet smile, then she looked at her husband. “He’s such a good boy just like Eric here.”
Good boy? Where? Daisy mentally dissed as she maintained her head lowered at her lap. “It’s a good thing that our girl’s with good guys.” Her father said, smiling at the two newcomers.
“Peter Middlemist, call me Uncle Pete.” He continued, looking at Calvin who smiled back in return. “I agree with Eve, you should come here often just like our boy Eric here.” He said causing for Calvin to chuckle and nod at him.
Even with her parents’ warm welcome, the twins were still on guard while looking at the two of them, Aaron on Eric and Eros on Calvin. Daisy raised her head and checked the situation, making her heave another sigh. Oh boy. Let me go to school in peace please.
“Why are you driving for her? It’s not your responsibility, Anderson.” Aaron questioned. “By the way, welcome back.” He said, but his tone isn’t as welcoming as what’s the words supposed to mean.
“How did you become friends with our Daisy here? Tell us everything, Strauss.” Eros asked next. “By the way, welcome to the group, bro.” he added, but like his twin, his tone opposes his words.
Remind me to not do anything stupid when my cousins were present. Daisy thought as she watched them continue their stern silence. Meanwhile, her parents were looking at the four guys with a smile and is comfortable with it. How dense can mom and dad be?
“Uh, okay.” Daisy started, deciding to break the atmosphere and take the matters in her own hands. “I need to go to school because it’s getting late.” She casually said and lifted her watch to show the current time.
“Bros,” she said, looking at the twins. “Eric’s driving me to school because he’s used with doing that since we were kids.” At least that what he said. “And Calvin became my friend because he transferred to our school and he sits behind Eric.” That’s kinda true.
Finishing her summarized explanation, Daisy smiled and stood up to walk towards her cousins and put her arms on their shoulders. “Calm down bros. I’m fine with them.” She whispered. “I’m not a black belter for nothing, okay? Trust me.” She said before chuckling.
Releasing them, she then faced the two. “Let’s go to school now, okay?” she said with a smile, but despite that, her eyes warn them to play along with her.
“We should be going now, auntie, uncle.” Eric politely said. “Sorry for our unannounced visit, auntie, uncle.” Calvin continued, both wearing a smile.
With their responses, she faced her parents and chuckled. “My friends and I will go now, mom, dad.” She said with a smile, then looked at Eros and Aaron. “It’s fine if you won’t go with me. I’ll use my car from now on.”
She then walked back to her seat to take her bag before turning around and went to Eric and Calvin to take their hands, after that, she faced her parents and her cousins once again. “We’re going now, guys. Bye!”
After saying goodbye, she dashed to the door which made the two follow her. Soon, she reached the door and opened and closed it as soon at the two got out as well. “See that? That’s what’s gonna happen if you two will get childish whenever you’re together!”
Her complaints fell on deaf ears. Removing her grip from the two, she glared at them. “Look at what you did. I think it’s better if you four just met at school and not here with my parents.”
“I can imagine my mom making fun of me at dinner already.” She muttered. Rolling her eyes, she just glared at them for the last time before walking to open the driveway gate and then proceed to car. “Dad’s gonna question me a lot too.” She muttered once again.
Without anything said, she drove off, leaving the two who just acted like nothing happened and went out towards their respective cars.
“I really can’t with those guys.” She said to herself while speeding up on the road. “What’s up with those two? Everything seemed like a competition to them.”
While in the middle off driving, her gas went low and her only choice is to turn left to go to the nearest gasoline station which is three blocks away from the main street, and that is the opposite direction of her supposed-to-be road to go to school.
“How much miss?” the staff questioned after she rolled her windows down. “Full tank please.” She said and handed her money. “Keep the change.” She said with a smile.
You can avoid those two when you’ll stick with Theia and Nathan. She thought, her eyes glaring at nothing. Yep. Be with Theia and Nathan. No one else.
Little did she know, several guys were watching her. “I told you boss, that’s her.” one of them said. “She’s with that bastard who cut me with that knife.”
“No need to repeat. I can see it myself.” the guy holding a cigarette stated. That’s the girl. He thought, remembering the girl who threw the metal pipe at him. She’s connected to them.
