Closing her eyes, Daisy knew that she’s helpless at her current state.
Bang! And as if on cue, the moment she closed her eyes became the signal for a gunshot to break the short silence that accompanied the short time of the knife aimed at her but felt like decades for Daisy.
The gunshot was immediately followed by the sound of a man groaning from pain and the knife that fell from Skull’s hand grazed her right arm, creating a middle-sized slightly deep cut. Feeling the pain, she opened her eyes and looked at her now more injured arm.
“Curse you!” Skull exclaimed while his hand covers his forearm that’s now heavily bleeding because of the bullet that is now buried in his forearm.
Unfazed by his words, Eric and Calvin walked towards them. Eric removed the tape on her mouth and Calvin used his dagger to untie her.
“Let’s get out here.” Eric said as he took his black handkerchief and used it to gently wipe the blood that flows on her arm before using it to tie it on her arm, after that, he unrolled her left sleeve. Calvin then moved to do the same on her pants, he unfolded it to at least hide the bruises formed.
“Thanks.” Daisy stated. Seeing the bruises make me feel weak and I hate it. She thought, still blaming herself on why they’re on that situation.
“How much time left?” Calvin asked once again. “Nine.” Eric answered which Calvin nodded in return before turning to Skull and pinned him on the ground using his foot. “What’s with the countdown?” Daisy asked as she wiped the sweat on her forehead.
“If they don’t have weapons, I could’ve taken them down.” She ranted, glaring at the guy who’s unable to do anything while his hand is still clutching his heavily injured forearm. “They played dirty.” She angrily spat.
“They’re already a bunch of filth already.” Eric coldly stated. “Tell this to the society.” Calvin said, crouching down and used his dagger to put a deep cut next to his shot area. “I appoint Grey Wolf as the Prince and those who dares to harm this girl will die.”
“I don’t give a s**t on your stupid society.” Eric said. “But if rank meant a lot in your useless kinds, then fine. Let me use it.” He said with a smirk. “Using this sss as a bait is a taboo. Remember that.” He said, his cold voice and blank eyes spread his dominance in no time.
“I’m lost. What society? Why are you appointing him? What’s going on?” Daisy continuously questioned. Without answering her Calvin stood up and applied pressure on Skull’s injury by stepping on it, causing him to shout in pain.
“Consider yourself lucky. You won’t die today cause you need to relay my words to them.” Calvin said before releasing him. “If you want to challenge me, do it formally useless filth.”
“Five minutes.” After Eric said that, Calvin walked and went closer to them. “Hey punks.” He called. “None of you move an inch from where you are right now.” He ordered.
“I’ll track you down if you’ll leave this place.” Eric added. “Get jailed or get hell. Choose one.” He threatened.
With none of them answering, the two looked at each other and nodded, both getting what each other meant: they need to go now and take care of their injured company.
“Hold her.” Eric said and took her less injured arm to show her to Calvin, which he took in return in order to support her in walking. After the two settled down and is ready to go out, Eric then took his phone out once again.
“Don’t let them bail themselves out for 3 days. Make sure they won’t have food and water for 3 days straight.” He stated, making Daisy look at the guy who’s ordering someone from the other line. “Set them free after 3 days.” He then ended the call.
Hearing his order, Daisy’s brows met. “Jailed for 3 days without anything to eat or drink?” she repeated. “Isn’t that too much?” she questioned. “I mean, I want them to have a piece of my mind but I never thought of that method.”
“Then now you know a method like that exists.” Calvin said and used his free hand to surround her shoulders to support her from both sides. “Now walk so we can get out of here.”
“Putting me in trouble of saving a distressed sss is more than the punishment I gave them.” Eric said as he casually walked with the two of them. “They won’t die there.”
Zipping her lips up, she let Calvin support her towards the backseat of his car. After positioning her properly, he got out and moved back to the driver seat. With Eric on the shotgun seat, Calvin on the driver’s seat, and Daisy at the back while supporting her wounded arm.
“You know,” she said, opening a conversation after a few seconds of silence ever since they drove away from the abandoned building. “You two are weird.” She said, causing for them to glance ta her through the mirror.
“You two spoke of death so casually, you fought expertly, and even acted like you’re some royalty from some weird place.” She enumerated. “But,” she paused, her eyes locked at the two who’s looking at her through the mirror as well.
“Thank you.” She said, a small smile spread on her lips. Calvin went back on looking at the road and focused on driving, both him and Eric said nothing despite the things she just said to them.
They’re secretive aren’t they? Daisy thought, a smile of appreciation still plastered on her lips. “It’ fine if you two will keep me in the dark.” She said, followed by a chuckle. “I won’t ask. I know that you two have reasons and I know my limits.”
Soon, the red light appeared, giving them a few seconds to spare. “Can we go to a boutique, dress store or a mall before going to school?” she suggested.
“Hospital first. Take a look at yourself, amazon.” Eric said, causing her to roll her eyes. “Your wounds need medical attention firs before your clothes.” Calvin seconded, glancing at her through the mirror.
Good point. Daisy mentally admitted. “But can we go and buy me clothes first? I don’t want to literally look like a kidnapped victim.” She reasoned. “Besides, I don’t want the others to know these.”
Remembering them, she closed her eyes before sighing. “I’ll deal with my parents so this won’t get bigger.” She said, leaning on the car seat. On the second thought, maybe Eric’s punishment is already fitted for them. Yep. It’s not too much.
“And Eric, I’m not an amazon.” Daisy clarified, now looking at him. “Why will you even nickname me as an sss?” she scoffed. “Oh right. What should I expect from an ice king?” she asked, rolling her eyes once again.
“And Calvin, I have a name and it’s Daisy.” She clarified for the second time. “Don’t just call me just a ‘girl’ or ‘her’.” she frowned, but then again, she sighed. “Oh right. What should I expect from another ice king?”
As the light turned green, Calvin drives once again. “But you’re an sss. Why stopping me from saying facts?” he asked, but his tone sounded flat and made it look like a statement.
I-what the- “But you’re really a girl. You want to be a guy?” Calvin asked next, his tone equally flat and his question sounded like a statement once again.
Heaving a sigh, she gave up. “Just go at a drugstore and buy the things I bought for the two of you when you’re wounded.” She instructed. “This is just a shallow cut. We need to go and catch up to school.”
“But-” before Calvin could continue, Daisy interrupted. “Nah. I can do it myself. Just buy me what I need then I’ll be fine.” She said and closed her eyes to take a rest. “Just wake me up when we’re you’ve bought the meds.”
Silence.
“Which turn?” Calvin asked, putting their car to the side and stopped to have time. The left is where a hospital located beside a church is positioned, while on the right is where a drugstore is built beside a mall.
“Hospital. We’re not doctors so why let her treat herself?” Eric shrugged. With that, he nodded and turned right. “Why the hell did you asked me then?” Eric asked, blankly looking at the view showing the right area’s buildings.
Calvin shrugged. “She treated us before so she can do it again.” He said as he focused on driving. “Hospitals are lame. I agree with her. it’s just minor so she can handle it.” He added.
“You sounded as if you can do it yourself.” Eric said, obviously against the idea of just resorting to a drugstore. Calvin didn’t say a thing and just sped up to go to the drugstore at a faster pace.
Reaching the drugstore, he stopped in front of it and the two remained quiet, not doing a single thing. “What are you waiting for? go out. I’ll stay.” Eric said, his head tilting sideways to point at the drugstore.
“Why are you pinning it on me?” Calvin asked back. “You graduated at Psychology already, nerd. You’re done studying every aspect of it, you have a license of being a registered psychologist and psychiatrist. You also studied some strands of Medicine during your stay abroad.”
Eric smirked. “Investigated me, huh?” Despite the sarcasms lacing his tone, Calvin nodded. “Yes. Now get out and make yourself useful.” He said, none of them backing out from glaring at each other.
“Do it yourself, geek. You’ve graduated criminology at age 16 and you’ve got your psychologist license last month.” Eric stated. “Don’t act like I’m the only one who studied in advance.” He smirked.
“Who are you to order me around?” Calvin questioned. “Why? You can’t remember anything about what you studied?” Eric asked back.
While they’re arguing on who will go out, Daisy woke up. That few minutes of nap is literally not enough. She thought as she blinked her eyes to regain proper vision and consciousness.
“What are you two doing?” she wondered out loud after seeing them glaring at each other. She then looked around to check on where are they currently in.
“Oh, a drugstore.” She said, looking back at them. “Have you bought meds already? Why didn’t you wake me up?” she said, but her question remained unanswered as the two didn’t move an inch.
Daisy sighed. “I’ll take that as a no.” she said, shaking her head at the two. The amazement I felt while watching them fight were nothing compared to the disappointment I’m feeling right now because of their childishness. “Fine.”
She slowly moved her right arm to avoid inflicting pain on herself before scooting towards the door to open it. “What are you doing?” the two asked in unison.
“Isn’t in obvious?” she asked sarcastically. “I’m going to buy meds cause you two are being stupid children again.” She said with a glare. Before she can take a step out, Calvin spoke.
“Sit still. I’m going.” He said and went out without saying any other word. That was fast. Daisy thought as she let go of the door and watched him enter the drugstore.
Her eyes then went on her purplish bruises. I wonder how long will these stay? She though while slowly moving her arms to test the pain. Manageable. I can do it. She said, giving herself an encouragement.
Feeling that someone’s staring at her, she lifted her gaze and met his. “What?” she asked with a brow raised. His green eyes stared at her as if she’s being examined, causing her to roll her eyes to hide her unsettled feelings. “What in the world are you doing?” You’re making me feel uncomfortable.
“Did you fought for yourself when they kidnapped you?” he asked. “Of course I did.” She scoffed. “I’m not weak. They just played dirty by hitting my back and used knives and stuffs.” She added with a frown. I can’t defend myself for a long time if they have weapons and I don’t.
Silence. After a few seconds of saying nothing, Eric opened the door and went out the car to go to the drugstore as well, leaving Daisy who’s confused on his sudden action. “Did I did say something wrong?” she wondered, following him through her stare.
Meanwhile, Eric scanned the area and looked for Calvin. After finding him at the counter and is currently third in the line, he walked past the others and approached him. “What are you doing here?” Calvin asked after feeling a presence beside him.
“Just checking if you’re not dumb enough to buy different meds.” He casually answered and looked at the things he’s carrying: an ice pack, an ointment, and a bandage. “If you can really buy them, then you shouldn’t have argued with me.” He commented.
“I’m lazy.” Calvin shrugged. “It’s not like you can’t buy these yourself.” He added, taking a step forward after the first customer left.
Soon, it’s their turn. “100.” The cashier announced, followed by the sound of the receipt being printed while she’s putting the things inside a plastic bag. Calvin handed her 120 and left the drugstore without saying a word.
“Sir I-” the cashier just sighed and took the excess 20 and decided to think that it’s a tip.
Reaching the car, the two found Daisy asleep once again. “It’s just for few minutes and now she’s sleeping again.” Eric commented before opening the car door.
“What do you expect her to do after being beaten up?” Calvin replied but he received no response from Eric who just ignored him and went back in the car.
“What now?” Eric questioned, staring at her who’s peacefully sleeping. “Let her sleep.” Calvin suggested and handed him the plastic bag before starting the car’s engine.
“Let’s go to the mall.” Eric said, eyeing the mall that is a few meters away from them. “Move there first and then we’ll but her clothes before we wake her up.” He said, looking at Daisy through the mirror.
Agreeing, Calvin started driving and then halted again so that they can buy her clothes. Parking beside the mall, the two went out once again. “We’re leaving her alone?” Calvin questioned while they were walking.
“It’s fine.” Eric answered. Finding it reasonable, the two continued walking until they reach the entrance. After entering, the two immediately went in a boutique.
Seeing the different varieties of women’s clothes, the two can’t even start pointing at a cloth. Seeing a saleslady nearby, Eric walked towards her. “Excuse me, bring me a comfortable women’s clothes.” He ordered.
“Just something simple and casual.” Calvin added, confusing the employee. “Is it a gift for someone sirs?” she politely asked.
“No. We’re in a hurry so get one now.” Calvin answered which made her nod and zip her mouth before turning around and walked at the corner of clothes where their description fits.
Afraid to not meet their demands, the employee hurriedly took two types of clothes and rushed back to them. Those two are handsome but they’re literally not here to play around. The employee thought.
“Here sir, please pick between this breezy cloth and this semi-casual one.” She said, raising the back floral chiffon long sleeves partnered with a cream ripped jeans, followed by a sky-blue loose shirt that is paired with shorts.
“Black one.” The two answered at the same time. “She can’t wear shorts.” Eric said. I’m pretty sure her legs must have bruises too, considering that they’ve beaten her pretty hard. He though.
“She can’t wear shirts either.” Calvin seconded. Her wounds and bruises will get exposed if she happens to wear one. He thought.
“Okay then!” the saleslady responded enthusiastically. So cute! They’re overprotective! “Let me wrap these clothes for your sister.” She said with a smile and was about to move towards the counter when the two spoke at the same time. “She’s not my sister.”
“Oh.” The saleslady softly exclaimed, followed by a chuckle. “Let me wrap this up for your cousin then.” She said and was about to take her step once again.
“Stop guessing, she’s not my cousin.” Eric stated. “Will you shut up and just wrap the clothes?” Calvin asked, causing for the saleslady to nervously chuckle and just leave them after giving them a nod.
After a few minutes, she came back with a brown bag. Calvin took the bag and Eric handed her the money which is twice as the amount before the two of them got out, not minding the calls of the saleslady who’s shocked with the amount.
Getting back inside the car, Calvin tossed the bag at the backseat and Eric moved through the center and stretched his hand to reach her. “Hey Daisy. Wake up.” He said while tapping her knee.
“Hm? The meds?” she asked after opening her eyes, her drowsy voice and sleepy eyes that were close on being closed once again shows how tired she is. Finally getting more awake, her eyes gazes at the bag beside her.
Clothes? She thought. She then looked at her watch and saw that she’s been asleep for almost 20 minutes already. Concluding that the two had already brought her the clothes and the medicine, she looked at them and smiled. “Thanks guys.”
“Go and change first so the bandage and the ointment won’t get ruined cause of you changing.” Calvin instructed. “We’ll go out. Change quick.” Eric added.
Before Daisy could respond, her phone rang. “Wait.” She said and slowly used took her phone from her pocket. “It’s Nathan.” She said after seeing the caller’s name.
“He-”
“Daisy come back here now!” Theia’s loud and panicky voice interrupted her greeting. “Wha-”
“Your parents are here Daisy.” Nathan interrupted, obviously panicking but his tone is obviously way calmer than Theia’s. “They messaged Theia and said that you’re not picking up on any of their messages so they will come here to check on you. We’re at the cafeteria for our free period.”
“But I receive none-” before she can continue, her eyes widen when she swiped on her notifications and saw that her parents did sent her lots of messages.
“Hurry! We’ll hold them off so you should-”
Theia haven’t finished her words when Daisy hurriedly ended the call. “Get out, I’m going to change!” her sudden yell made the two look at her with confusion before going out just like what she said.
Can this day get any worse?! She mentally ranted as she tries her best to make her injured limbs function at the best as she can.
