The four of them tucked into the food and the chilled Champagne, and Stefan gave a very nice toast to their happiness. It struck Alina as totally bizarre that she’d just made love to this man’s wife…and in front of her own husband after they’d been married for just a few hours! But Charles seemed to be delighted by the events as they continued to unfold.
When the food had been cleared away it was Zelda who announced that she and Stefan would leave – to give the “happy couple” time to get to know each other. This was the prompt for Alina to take over, and to go through with the scene that she and Zelda had rehearsed verbally a few days earlier.
