I woke up with a start, my heart racing. The dim light filtering through the small window told me it was barely dawn. Lily stirred in the bed next to mine, mumbling something in her sleep. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. Another day of walking on eggshells, of playing both sides, of risking everything. As I got dressed, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
