As the guards dragged me away, I caught one last glimpse of Lily's tear-streaked face and Jermaine's frightened eyes. My heart ached, but I tried to convey strength and reassurance in my final look to them. The guards roughly led me down winding stone staircases, deeper and deeper into the bowels of Alpha Donk's fortress. The air grew colder and damper as we descended. Finally, we reached a heavy iron door. One guard unlocked it while the other shoved me inside. The cell was tiny and pitch black. I could barely make out the outline of a small cot against one wall. The stone floor was slick with moisture. As my eyes adjusted, I saw chains bolted to the wall. "Enjoy your new accommodations," one guard sneered before slamming the door shut.
