I couldn't stay silent any longer. "And where has your way gotten us, Alpha? More violence, more death, more fear. Is that really the legacy you want to leave?"
For a moment, I thought I saw a flicker of something - doubt? regret? - in Donk's eyes. But it was gone as quickly as it appeared, replaced by cold fury.
"Silence!" he roared. "You've lost the right to question me, traitor!"
He turned to the pack, his voice rising to a fever pitch. "Do you see now, my loyal wolves? Do you see the poison of her words, how she seeks to undermine everything we've built?"
The pack snarled and snapped, caught up in Donk's frenzy.
Dwayne, who had been silent through much of this, suddenly spoke up. "You're making a mistake, Donk. This path you're on, it leads only to destruction - for all of us."
