The morning sun had barely risen when I heard a soft knock on my door. My heart leapt into my throat, knowing who it must be. I hadn't slept a wink all night, my mind racing with the impossible situation I now found myself in.
"Come in," I called out, trying to keep my voice steady.
The door creaked open, and Luna Ruby slipped inside, her eyes darting around nervously before settling on me.
"Rebecca," she whispered, "are you ready?"
I nodded, forcing a smile onto my face. "As ready as I'll ever be."
Luna Ruby approached me, her expression a mix of determination and fear. "Did you manage to get closer to Alpha Donk yesterday?"
"Yes," I replied, hating the lies that were about to spill from my lips. "He seems to be warming up to me. I think he's starting to trust me."
