I hesitated, then plunged ahead. "Yes. I want to know everything. Why you really brought me here, what your organization does, all of it. No more secrets or half-truths. If I'm going to be working for you, I need to understand what I'm involved in."
There was a long moment of silence as Alpha Donk considered my demands. Finally, he nodded.
"Very well, Rebecca. I accept your conditions. Welcome to the organization."
He stood up and walked around the desk, extending his hand. I stood as well, my legs shaky, and shook it. His grip was firm and cold.
"Alpha Kaine will show you to your new quarters," Alpha Donk said. "You'll find them much more comfortable than the storage room. We'll begin your briefing tomorrow morning."
