Chapter Fourteen Jasper rubbed the back of his neck then stretched his arms over his head. His spine crackled, and Evelyn glanced at him, her eyes wide. He shrugged. “Guess these old bones are protesting the amount of time I’m spending hunched over files.” He shoved aside the pile he’d been studying. “I don’t know about you, but I could use a break.” She nodded. “How about a walk around the base?” “No.” He shook his head. “I’ve got something better in mind. I’ll put this stuff away, and you go change into something you don’t mind getting dirty.” Her eyebrow lifted. “Are we going to the maintenance shed?” “Ha.
