I climbed into the back seat of my car a short while later. Susan and Lilly had us packed up in record time. I knew the council would have a lot to say about what I was doing, but it wasn’t their lives! This was my damn life. I had to figure out what it was that I wanted. I knew the moment I felt that damn mate bond with Caleb that everything had changed.
I would never be able to accept Lucas if I didn’t reject Caleb first, and that was where my problem was. Even after everything that happened and everything he did to me, I just couldn’t bring myself to put Caleb through that. I thought I would be able to humiliate him. I thought I would be able to take my revenge and never look back, but the moment it came down to the wire, I couldn’t do it.
