Micah’s POV I take hurried steps inside the forest. Desperation clinging to my fingertips. She needs to be here. She needs to be. Ten paces more and I’ll be at the clearing. Five paces more. Three. Only one step more … She isn’t here. My heart drops like a rock. Disappointment hangs over me like a dark cloud. I sigh resignedly and turn. This was such a f*****g waste. I am just about to leave when I hear someone talking. I freeze and c**k my head. The sound is coming from behind a huge tree at the far end of the clearing. “I can’t believe that the man I wished so desperately to see all this time, my biological father, ended up being him.” A woman is saying. “I can’t believe that I share my blood with a man so ruthless and cold-blooded.” There’s a deep sadness in those words
