Micah’s POV
“That meeting could have been an email.” I grumble to myself and look at my watch. I need to look at the dossiers that Colin dropped off on the perfume companies we might want to invest in. Colin is an excellent researcher and he has narrowed it down to the top three competitors. Now I just need to go to meet each of these and decide which one I want to invest in.
Opening my door, I look over and see Rowena arranged on my leather couch. Arranged is the only word for it as she has made sure her best assets are in view. My phone lies on a table next to her and I pick it up, remembering I forgot it here before attending the meeting.
“Rowena, what are you doing here? I’m very busy. The last meeting ran long and I am behind schedule.” I walk quickly across the room, turning my back on Rowena as I find the file with the dossiers and flip it open.
“Darling, I wanted to see you. Take you to lunch and talk about the perfume project you are investing in.” She purrs and I look over to see she has changed positions on the couch, trying to look sexy and entice me.
“What about it? I haven’t even had a chance to look at the top three contenders Colin brought me.”
“I’m sure Tamed Passions is on that list. We are exclusive, elegant and the perfect fit for your company.”
“We have to see about that Rowena. I’m giving all three contenders a fair shot.”
I flip through the pages and see that Tamed Passions is the first one listed. I skim over the details before going to the next which is Scented Dreams, and on the final page is Silver Moon Scents.
I stop and stare at the name for a moment, blinking a few times. It’s the company Fiona works at…
“So, what do you think, should we draw up the papers now?” I slam the file shut as I suddenly feel Rowena’s breath on the back of my neck. I didn’t even hear her move from the couch.
“As I said Rowena, I’m going to evaluate each company fairly, and then decide on one based on the merits of the company, and not who works there.”
She pouts and sits on the edge of my desk. “Micah, you know that we are fated to be together. Our wolves call to each other, isn’t that the definition of fated mates?” She asks, fluttering her eyelashes at me.
“I don’t recall ever telling you that our wolves call to each other.”
She frowns and then pulls out her secret weapon.
“Don’t forget Micah, we have ‘that’ between us. ‘That’ makes us bonded in a way that you will never be with another.”
“I know, I know. But right now, I have work to do. So, if you will excuse me?”
I dismiss her politely.
She slides off my desk, “As you wish, but think about us? We are fated to be together.”
She blows me a kiss and walks out of my office. I sigh as the door shuts and look down at the papers again.
Seconds later, I pick up the phone and punch in Colin’s number.

Fiona’s POV
“What do you think if we mix hydrangea with a bit of rose?” I ask Amorak before taking a big bite of my sandwich. We have taken a late dinner break and are bouncing ideas off each other.
We need to start production in two days if we want to give things time to distill together. It is a tight timeline, but I believe that we can do it.
This project is everything I need right now. I don’t want to lose my job, I want to develop my body scent perfume project, and I need a distraction from breaking it off with Micah. Even as Rowena’s moans over the phone run over and over in my head, driving me crazy.
“I don’t mean to interrupt your thoughts, but have you heard anything I just said?” Amorak’s voice rips me out of my thoughts.
“I’m sorry, I was off in the clouds for a moment.” I give him a small smile and he comes over to stand next to me.
Just as he is about to tell me something, one of the receptionists comes running in our room. She looks pale and her eyes are wide with panic.
“Miss Fiona, t-there is someone outside to see you.” She stumbles over her words, making me increasingly worried.
Quickly, I get up and follow her outside only to be faced with chaos.
“I am telling you to ask her to come right now and see me. Does she really think she can take the father of my child away from me!”
Rowena is yelling at one of the other receptionists and from the look of her face, the poor girl is near tears. Other workers have completely left their work and our now fully focused on Rowena creating a scene.
I gasp and rush towards her in panic.
“Rowena, what are you doing here?!” I exclaim.
The moment she sees me, her expression turns even more dramatic. She whirls at me and gets in my personal space, jabbing a finger at me.
“You! You are finally here, you homewrecker! How can you be at peace after stealing my man away from me!”
With these lies, she is making me look like some villain as she looks like the poor victim. My face burns from anger and I stare her in disbelief.
“Quit the lies, Rowena. I never stole anything from you!” I snap back, still in shock from her accusations.
“Oh, now you are going to gaslight me?” She asks and then, theatrically clutches her pregnant belly and makes distressed noises.
One of my colleagues rushes towards her and others fuss over her as they send glares my way. She basks in the attention and then casually extracts herself and walks toward me again.
An evil smile appears on her face as she looks at me with malevolent glee.
“What do you want from me, Rowena?” I whisper to her urgently, desperate to get her out of here before she turns anyone else against me.
“See me at The Full Moon.” She throws back at me over her shoulder and then turns around to stomp out of there.
The Full Moon is a little café up the road.
Knowing she has left me with no choice, I can only mumble small apologies to all my colleagues as they look at me in disapproval, before quickly driving to the café she named.
I could really do with a glass of wine to deal with all this.
