Chapter 5Sandy looked between Thaddeus—Thad, Ric had called him—Ric, and a third guy. Sandy rounded the third man. He was tall and strong, some kind of cat if his nose still worked right. Dangerous. Sandy backed up a little, not wanting to antagonize him unless it was necessary. Ric acknowledged the man as higher than him in rank so Sandy assumed they’d fought it out. He didn’t bow his head, though. He was stronger than Ric, didn’t know about the cat man, but he wouldn’t bow to anyone unless he had to. Thaddeus was fidgeting, looking smaller than he had before. It had Sandy frowning.
