Chapter 9

RENEE I was lying down on something soft, but someone shook me violently. I opened my eyes and groaned. I was tired, and everything came flooding back to me, being f****d by Vance and Jax, Jax biting me. I moved up and sat upright, staring at whoever shook me. I frowned when I saw Riley standing in front of me, glaring. “YOU BOTH NEED TO LEAVE,” she hissed. “NOW.” I moved slightly, but the movement made my neck hurt. I placed my hand on my neck and covered whatever it was. I could feel two little holes on the side. Remembering Jax biting my neck made my face flush slightly. “Oh, come on, Riley,” Paula said, pulling me from my thoughts. I looked over as Riley turned to face her. “No,” she hissed. “You both are sluts that we use for our needs, now leave. You’re not welcome to be around or in our presence.” I stared at the woman in front of me. Riley turned to me and stared as a slow smirk appeared on her face. “Wait, you both think that Vance and Jax want you both,” she said as she laughed. “Oh, Hunny, they don’t care about you. They used you both.” Riley walked over to me and knelt. “Jax never has humans; he felt sorry for you,” she said. “See, that one over there told us all about that pathetic jerk you were with, and she felt sorry for you. She wanted us to feel sorry for you and help you get out of your funk.” I looked over at Paula, who was blank as she glared at Riley. I knew she told Jax, but everyone. Why? I felt ashamed. Everyone knew. “I think you’re pathetic,” said Riley, making me look back at her. “Jax would never take you. He hates humans. He would never take you as anything except a pet, sweetheart.” I could feel tightness in my chest at the mention of Jax. How could I feel like this about someone I just met? I knew this was a one-time thing, but I was hoping that Jax would at least talk to me. Riley got up and stood; her nakedness was getting to me. She was stunning, and she knew she was. “Now, leave,” she said. Riley walked over to where some clothes were hanging. I looked at Paula, who handed me my dress. I was feeling numb and confused. But anger was there. Why would someone talk about my s*x life to a bunch of people? I got up, but my legs were feeling weak. Someone came to my aid, and I looked over to see the waiter from earlier who joined in the s****l activities. He placed his arm around me and helped me. “I got you,” he whispered. I gave him a small smile. “I’m Jake,” he muttered. “Let me help you.” He looked over to Riley, who was staring at me. “You b***h,” shouted Paula as Jake leaned me against the wall. I pointed to my dress, and he nodded. “You think you are perfect because you have had all three men for years, and now that other women entertain them, you feel threatened by us,” shouted Paula. “That’s what’s pathetic. You are jealous; you are jealous not of me but of Renee.” I looked at her, stunned, as I lowered the dress over my bruised breasts. Vance and Jax gave me a whole load of hickeys on each one. Why the hell would Riley be jealous of me? Riley huffed out. “I’m not jealous of that,” she motioned to me. “I know Jax, and he would never fall for someone like her. Why would he?” She was jealous but remembered how she acted about the threesomes and how Jax told her no. She didn’t like it. I stood up, and Jake placed his hand on my arm to hold me up. “I’m leaving,” I muttered. Riley smirked, but I wasn’t done. “Riley, you keep acting like this; you are not only going to lose Jax but Ward too. He clearly loves you, and the way you are acting, you will lose them and end up on your own.” I felt confident telling her straight. Riley moved fast and grabbed hold of my neck. “How dare you speak to me like that?” she yelled, red eyes glaring back at me. I gasped as she squeezed slightly. “You know nothing,” she said. “Let go of her,” shouted Jake. “We don’t accept this kind of behavior toward guests in the club. You will be thrown out and won’t be allowed back in.” Riley lets go of my throat, and my hand goes to my throat. I looked at her; her eyes were still red. She looked like she wanted to kill me. Jake moved and stood in front of me. Paula stood by the side, holding onto my arm. What the hell was the problem with this b***h? “Move away,” shouted Jake at her. Riley moved; Jake placed his hand in mine and led Paula and me out of the booth. We walked to the front of the club. We stood as Jake pulled open the door and smiled. “I hope you had an awesome time,” he said. I nodded; even though I nearly got eaten by two vampires, one was more pleasurable. Paula and I walked through the door as the sun was coming up. “A cab will be here soon,” Jake said by the door. “I asked my boss to call one to take you into town.” I smiled up at him. “Thank you,” I said. Jake nodded. “It was lovely to meet you both,” he said, eyes on Paula, but he looked at me and smiled. Jake turned around and muttered to someone, but closed the door behind him. I looked back but looked at Paula, standing staring at the door. “You okay, Paula?” I asked. She nodded. “I’m okay,” she said as a sigh escaped. I looked at the road, waiting for the taxi to come into view. “I thought he liked me,” Paula blurted out. “Vance, I mean, he never made me think I was just for s*x. He always came back to me, and I knew he was only doing what I liked. As you know, I like s*x, but I can see myself with him. I mean, I could see myself being with him forever.” I didn’t say anything; I didn’t know what their whole thing was, as I tried not to think about Jax. I only met him tonight, and all I want is to have him in my bed and make him mine forever. It must be a vampire thing, surely. I never felt like this, not even with the jerk. I turned to look at Paula. “Why did you tell them about Damian’s actions to me?” I asked. Paula looked at me and sighed. “I didn’t tell them all; I spoke to Jax and Vance,” she said. “Riley and Ward weren’t in the room. Vance may have said something when I wasn’t there or Jax. But neither of them said they were doing this for me or helping you feel good.” I looked toward the road and spotted the cab driving toward us. “I did tell Jax I thought he was perfect for you,” she exclaimed. I turned to her and raised my eyebrows. “You did?” I asked. She nodded. “He never had humans, and he was never with anyone,” she said with a shrug. “He seemed to need someone to be more about him than the others.” I stared at her. The cab pulled up and stopped. We walked over to each side and opened the door, sliding into the back seat. Once the doors were closed, the driver drove away. I couldn’t help but look behind me at the club. I was hoping to see Jax, but there was no sign of him; maybe Riley was right. I looked back and leaned back on the seat. Paula leaned back and placed her hand in mine. She was quiet, and so was I. I felt lost all of a sudden.
