After getting off the ground, we had breakfast and dressed. We went hiking first, making sure we sprayed ourselves down with bug repellent. Mosquitos are horrible in the summer.
We walked through the trails as Matt showed me the area. We passed other residents and waved. Everything was grand until we heard rustling in the bushes. We stopped and glanced at each other.
The bushes moved as our eyes widened. A black bear cub appeared.
“Run,” Matt said in a whisper.
You didn’t have to tell me twice. I pivoted and ran as Matt ran behind me. The bear cub chased us.
“I thought you said there weren’t bears?”
“I didn’t think there was!”
“I’m going to hurt you, Matthew!”
