ALBATORA'S POV I hadn’t intended to come out of my darkness, let alone shift back to my human form, but hearing her say that she knew what I was going through pierced my heart and my Tiger forced me to shift so I could comfort our mate. I didn’t realise how much of a toll not being in my human body for so long would take on it. All my muscles were starting to atrophy and no matter how much I tried I could not get my voice to work. Holding my mate to me felt so surreal. Her scent was incredible. It was like a wild berry plant. My body stirred just because of her scent. When she had finally fallen asleep after crying her heart out, I knew I had to leave. I wasn’t the person she needed or deserved. I tried to tell myself I was making the right choice, but it hurt like crazy to walk out
