Chapter Nine
On returning to Pearl, the illusion of a tropical paradise instantly shattered when Sean learned that the main generator for the lab had blown. What Lauren hoped would be a honeymoon between lovers ended up with her lying sleepless in her hut, Sean exhaustedly crashing in his own bed when he finally got the generator working. It was only a sign of things to come. The day at Damage Island seemed like heaven compared to the one that followed. Nothing went right in Sean’s world. Experiments were contaminated, reports misplaced. Lady Enchanted blew fuses in her engine, and he was having an unsettling intellectual war with Ellison over the conclusions of their research. Both men were hassled, grouchy and out of sorts.
