Chapter Seven - Signed Contract

1032 Words
Jasmine’s point of view. I stepped into the car and the man came to pick me up from the hotel room. It was a luxurious black SUV, and he was the driver. He drove off heading to wherever he was taking me. I was anxious to see where I was going. I didn’t know if I was safe at all, but I chose to trust the strangers. We arrived at the shopping mall where we were going, and I couldn’t step out of the car because this is where all the billionaires live. All the well-known designers have shopped here. I stepped out of the car, and I swallowed hard. “Shall we?” the man said to me as I shook my head. I couldn’t go on and do this no matter what I wanted to do. “I am sorry, please just excuse me. I can’t do this… I am sorry…” I wanted to excuse myself, but the man stood in front of me as I swallowed hard “Is something wrong?” I questioned him as I took hold of my phone, thinking of calling Miguel. “No, Ma’am, but I believe that Mr. Rivera will not be happy if he finds out that I could not get you to do this”, he explained to me as I sighed heavily. “Okay, just give me a minute. I need to talk to someone quickly before I can go with you”, I said to him, and he nodded his head. We stepped into the building with the man leading the way. A thirty-five-story building with glass all over it. We went up to the 29th floor before I got off, following the man behind as he led me to the penthouse. He unlocked the house for me and stood aside, letting me walk in. “What is this?” I asked him and he just walked to the foyer counter, picking up a remote and handed it to me. “This controls the windows and doors. Also, this card is for your door there”. He added, by showing me the key card to the door. “Wait! Whoa… You don’t think I will start living here, do you?” I questioned him and he didn’t even bother to look at me but went on to show me around the room. I couldn’t believe what was happening right now. How did I move from nothing to this? I am now looking at the future of living in such a luxurious home. “Wait, are you saying this is where I will be living? I don’t think….” I wanted to speak but the man was so arrogant that he didn’t even give me a chance to express myself. I quickly moved away from where I had then followed him to the bedroom. “All the clothes you need are in here and we have selected the best products for you to use,” he said, opening the door to the walk-in closet. I couldn’t help and just let my mouth open wide. “Wait! You mean all this is mine?” I questioned him and he gave me an affirmative nod as I swallowed hard thinking of what he was just saying to me. There was no way that I would take any of this. The shoes just didn’t seem like my way of dressing. “Please excuse me,” he said to me, walking out of the room as I swallowed hard. Was he leaving me all by myself? Really? I questioned myself as I looked in the direction he was going. I walked around the apartment thinking about what I was doing here. Was it right? I questioned myself. I went to sit down thinking about what my next step would be. I took out the contract and started thinking about the contents. What was I going to do? I asked myself. It was wrong of me to accept this when I vowed that I would never get involved with a man because of money. But thinking about what happened six months ago, I don’t know what to do. Flashback “I have had enough, Jasmine! It’s excuse after excuse! You have not paid for your rentals for months now! If you can’t pay, then get out of my house!” The landlady shouted at me for failing to pay for her rentals. It had been three months since I was fired and now had no source of income. I tried so much to find money, but nothing was happening. I concluded in my mind that I was born unlucky. “Ms. Lloyd, please just give me some time. I promise to pay you everything,” I pleaded with her, but the woman had enough of my excuses every day. I would also get tired of excuses. “No, Jasmine! I want my money by the end of the day, or you can leave!” She yelled, making her way out of the house that I was renting. I swallowed hard as I took out a pen from my bag and looked at the contract that I was given. It was either I keep crushing at Miguel’s house or have my own like this one. I placed my pen on the paper and filled in my name, I flipped the documents and finally placed my signature on the document. After signing the document, I decided that I would call Miguel to let him know what I had decided, and he didn’t pick him up when I tried to call him. “ I have signed the contract. I hope it is the right thing:” I sent the message to him and hoped that he would respond. Just with my signature on the document, I didn’t know that my life was going to change from the worst to the best of my life. Being a wife to Javier Rivera was an honor that many women wanted, but I couldn’t believe that I was going to be his on paper and to the public. I looked forward to what this brought to my life.
