Chapter 4: Bugged

1567 Words
(Ray POV) “I am home, Lilah,” I sang while putting my bag on the couch. I looked around and she was nowhere to be seen. Maybe she was in a kitchen. Before I called her name again, A savory smell of Mac&Cheese wafted in my nostrils. I take a deep breath to get more of this smell but my stomach grumbles loudly to inform me that I didn’t have anything in the last 24 hours. “Lilah! I am hungry,” I said loudly and she came out of the kitchen with two bowls of Mac&Cheese. She put both bowls on the table before turning her face toward me. Her stance was looking angry with both hands on hips and a small frown on her pretty round face. “How many times did I have to tell you that my name is Delilah, not Lilah,” She said and there she went again. She hates to hear the ‘Lilah’ word and I love to repeat it as many times as possible. I love how her small round face turned red in anger and her cheeks look more pretty. She was my friend for the last six years and I found her injured on a street. Since then, we started living together. I hate to do house chores but she loves to do them, so it was an extra perk that I got, being her friend. “I know your name is Delilah but I love to call you Lilah. But, if you don’t like the word Lilah, then I will not call you Lilah again,” I answered, and her mouth hung open in shock. “You!!! I will not give you this food now,” She said but I quickly picked up a bowl and ran towards my room, which was on the first floor. Her room was located on the ground floor. “Stop, Ray! I want to discuss a few things with you,” She said and her words made me stop in my tracks. “What is it?” I said while eating a spoonful of Mac&Cheese. I moaned when all the flavors melted on my tongue. “We can talk after finishing our food,” She said while gesturing towards her bowl and I agreed with her on this. I quickly came down and sit on the couch beside her. I was already hungry, so It just took a few minutes for me to end that bowl. “Hmm! It was so delicious that I wanted to lick my fingers,” I praised her and her face lit up after hearing my compliment. “Thank you so much, Ray! But, I will not cook your breakfast tomorrow. It is a punishment for calling me Lilah,” She said and I was shocked because she had never punished me before. “So sad! You will remain hungry because of me,” I answered while looking towards my hands. “What? I think you didn’t hear it correctly. I will not cook for you only,” She highlighted it again and I simply nodded like an obedient child. “Then, how will I remain hungry tomorrow?” She asked while crossing her arms on her chest. Ah! She still didn’t get the meaning behind my words. My poor innocent friend! “Because…I am a thief and I will steal your breakfast if you don’t cook one for me,” I answered while winking at her. “What the…You have no shame left, Ray!” She complained and she repeated this complaint several times a day as usual, because I find it amusing to get on her nerves. “Leave it all behind! What do you want to talk about, by the way?” I asked in a curious way. “I wanted to talk about you…Where were you last night?” She arched her brow and I pressed my lips in a thin line. Sh*t! If I knew it earlier, then I would never dare to start this conversation again. Bad move, Ray! “I…I was in a hotel, thinking about my next projects,” I answered and she nodded, but I knew, she didn’t believe even a single word of this lie. “Then, Can you explain the scent of three alphas which is wrapped up around you like a blanket? It is so strong and you can’t get it with anything accidental, right?” She said and I wanted to face palm myself. I should have taken a bath before coming near her but damn those omega senses! She can still smell their scents on my body. “When I was in the office, I got all the files. I was beyond ecstatic after finding those files and USB, but when I turned around, those three alphas were glaring at me and I caught red handed,” I answered and she stood up abruptly. “WHAT? Did they force themselves on you? Why didn’t you tell me about it?” She was looking worried and concerned. “Relax. Lilah! It is not what you are thinking. They didn’t force themselves on me but helped me because when they caught me red-handed. They wanted to ask me the reason for breaking into their office but before they could ask…My heat period started and I doubled over in pain in front of them,” I said in a serious tone. I was feeling bad for ditching them after using them like this. After all, They didn’t behave like other blood-hungry alphas even though I was in heat and at their mercy but they didn’t take advantage of me. “Really! You are not trying to satisfy me with your lies, right?” She asked and I nodded in answer. “I swear nothing happened like that. They just helped me in the night and wanted to ask questions in the morning but I flew away before any of them woke up,” I answered and she nodded. “Come on, Cheer up, Girl! It is nothing to worry about,” I said, but she was always like this, kept overthinking even about small things. “Look, I am happy and safe in front of your eyes,” I said while twirling in front of her and she smiled before shaking her head. “You will never gonna change, Right?” She asked before picking up the empty bowl. “Nah! Because my Lilah likes me this way,” I said with a wink, and we both laughed. “I will do the dishes but you have to check these USBs and decrypt their codes if they have any,” I said while giving her the USB. “Okay! Join me after doing the dishes. We have some important matters to discuss,” She informed me before going to her small office room. Delilah loved computers and all the technology. She is a professional hacker and my every mission is incomplete without her help. There is no any device in this world of she didn’t know. She can hack and operate any and every device. I quickly entered in the kitchen and started doing the dishes. I brewed two cups of coffee for both of us when Delilah entered in the kitchen with panic written all over her face. “What happened, Lilah?” i asked while taking a sip of my coffee. “You are bugged,” I almost spat my coffee out after hearing her words. “WHAT? What are you saying?” I asked while putting the cup of my coffee on the kitchen table. “I said you were bugged. Change your clothes and find the chip,” She said, but I didn’t waste any minute changing my clothes. I started checking my pockets and soon, I found that small chip in my clothes. “Holy f*ck! And, You were saying that they didn’t do something wrong to you. We are in deep sh*t, Ray,” She said while raking her hands through her hair in panic. “No need to panic, Lilah! Let me think about something,” I said, and quickly picked up my jacket and bag from the couch. “Where are you going?” She asked while looking towards me. “I am going out of this house. They can check my location if I stay here. I have to go somewhere else because I can’t put your life in danger,” I said while running towards the door. “But, We can debug you and think about something else,” She said while grabbing my wrist. “Noo!!! It will be too risky. I am going to stay in some shady motel for a few days, so they can be sure that I lived in that motel,” I said while putting a cap on my head. “Don’t worry! I will contact you and will keep in touch with you. I am not leaving you alone and this is not our first time either,” I assured her before running out of my house. I will not let go of those f*ckrs this easily. They dare to bug me, now I will show them hell. I thought before running towards the main door. I have enough connections in this city, so it will not be a problem for me to dodge them.
