Changing Tides
Ninedinni tumbled through storm clouds that no longer obeyed her will, her wet hair and linen gown clinging to her. The rain she fell through stung coldly but that wasn't why her body was trembling all over. She had never fought so hard, summoned so much of her divine power in so short a span of time.
And it hadn't changed a thing. The battle ended as all the others had, with Unzi dead once more and the beginning of a new life already quickening within her.
The ocean reached up for her, waves like mountains fighting to be the one that caught her. She had just a moment to wonder what had become of the fleet of fishing boats she had been watching from the mountaintop before Unzi found her, then she was plunged into the cold dark of her father's house.
