"He has outgrown the need for me," Osgar said. "Oh, I don't think quite yet," Aeronwyn said. "But we don't have to discuss this now," she added with another glance at my body. "Don't we," Osgar said flatly. She fidgeted under his gaze and broke into a grateful smile as Hrothgar entered the tent followed by Wulfstan and Hereweald. "Ah, my husband arrives at last." She rushed to his side and he gave her a brief kiss before noticing the way Osgar's eyes followed her around the tent. "Osgar?" he asked. "Now," I said to the other ghost. "Follow me now, and they will all follow you." The ghost moved into Osgar's line of sight, her face all heartbreaking sorrow.
