Chapter 6 Dean’s wife Kate leaned against the wall, a thin cigarette held to her lips as she stood just out of view of the fans mobbing the hotel lobby. Her frown deepened as Ian approached. An overnight bag rested between her high heels, and her hair was pulled into a tight dyed-red bun at the nape of her neck. Behind her frameless glasses, her eyes were heavily lined with black kohl. With a grimace Ian thought might be an attempt at a smile, she said, “You look like shit.” “Good morning to you, too.” Ian dropped his bag at his feet and rubbed his temples.
