  RHYS   A knock fell on my door, or rather a kick because that was what it sounded like. Only one person could be that disrespectful on purpose, the little wench.   “Come in, Venus,” I permitted, doing up my buttons at my own pace. The kick came again and my hands fell away. What was she trying to prove by that irritating attitude? I marched to the door and pulled it open to find her hands loaded with my breakfast. The smell coming from the dishes were tantalizing but the dead look on her face took me aback.   “Why didn’t you tell me you needed help with opening the door?” I asked, allowing her bear the weight of the food tray for a little while longer. She shifted to a side, balancing the tray like she had been doing it all her life. Other than that, she was as silent as a doorknob. H
