Hayden was livid. "What do you mean his house is for sale?"
She hadn't said much throughout this ordeal, largely because I hadn't told her anything. She didn't know Davis had stood me up on our anniversary; she assumed we'd had an argument. She had no idea I hadn't talked to him since, either. She thought that, like most couples, we'd had a disagreement and had been spending time apart. I had no idea what reality she lived in, but it sure as hell wasn't mine.
