I was up early this morning wishing I was going to training, not waiting for these witches to come. I’m thankful they are trying to help me, but something about the entire thing feels off. I don’t want to disappoint anyone, so I keep my mouth shut. I want to get better for Eddison and Shawna.
I’m in the Alpha office with Eddison and the Alpha. A whoosh sounds in the air, and a portal appears. Out steps one of the witches, but no one else. I try to look behind her to see the other two, but they aren’t there. This is the one witch that gives me the creeps, so I’m not that happy that it’s just her. “Hello, Alpha… Beta.”
“Where’s everyone else?”
“Ulva and Isidora are busy with something else. High Priestess Topaz sends her apologies. I can take care of everything on my own. It won’t take long.” I feel my heartbeat increase. Something about her rubs me the wrong way. I really don’t want to be alone with her, but what can I say? I’m sure it’s simply because all this supernatural stuff is new to me.
I watch the men nod and stand. The Alpha walks out, and Eddison walks to me. “Will you be okay?” I nod, not trusting my voice. He pats me on my shoulder and leaves me alone with the witch.
She sits down in the chair next to me, but I don’t move. “Hello, A. My name is Chandra. I’ve been her with my sisters before. I’m going to ask you some questions and take some notes.” Something about her is getting under my skin, but I’m not sure why or what it is. “How have you been feeling?”
“I’m fine.” I really don’t want to be here, and I really don’t trust this witch. I feel like an asshole, though. I feel like I’m discriminating and wonder if I’d feel the same way if she were a nurse or doctor.
“Do you have any memories?”
“No, really. Just some things from childhood. They are brief and not always that detailed.” She nods and makes notes on the pas that she has in her hand. She puts her pad on the desk and stands up. She walks over to me and places her hands over my head. This is how they check my magic levels or whatever. I sit up straighter and keep as still as possible. Suddenly, my body feels light, and darkness takes over.

I looked into his eyes as I questioned him in an attempt to see if there’s a spark of recognition. He looked back at me, but there’s not much there. I don’t think he knows he saw me before, but he’s definitely uneasy. This may actually work in my favor if I use it correctly.
Once he blacks out, I hurry and lock the door. I don’t need any interruptions. I walk back over to him and place my hands above him. I realized that just skipping a dosage wouldn’t be enough. I don’t know if he will ever remember everything, but I can make sure that I push it down more. It’s a spell that won’t last long in his system. When they come back to see him, it should have dissipated. I just need a little more time to make sure I can get away.
I’ve decided to leave the area. I have enough money and enough contacts to get away and stay away. There’s nothing for me here with this hanging over my head. Hopefully, when they find out what happened, I will be untraceable.
I close my eyes and concentrate. I recite the words over and over in a hushed voice, and I feel the power flowing through my fingers. I feel the magic swirl around me and fill the room. It won’t be much longer now; I will have his memories pushed down more, and I can make my exit.
A sharp knock on the door jerks my body, and I stumble over my words. I quickly look at the door and look back at Aston. F**k! This isn’t what I need. I push my hand through the air and hear the faint click of the lock. I quickly sit in the chair and watch as that woman walks through the door. I know it’s his mother; they favor each other. “I just wanted to check. My mate told me that you guys were here for Aston.” She looks around the room before her eyes land back on me. “Where are your sisters?” I clear my throat.
“They have something else to take care of. He’s sleeping now.” I stand and gather my things. “He should be awake soon. Everything looks good.” I create a portal and step through before she could respond.” The portal closes behind me, and I look around my lab before throwing my things down. I might have just screwed myself. That interruption wasn’t what I needed. I don’t know if the spell was able to take effect or not.

There’s darkness all around me before I’m suddenly flooded with light. Colors are flashing past me on both sides. They are moving so fast that I can’t focus on any one thing. I think they are memories; they seem like mini-movies.
I reach my hand out in an attempt to grab hold of one, but it doesn’t work. My hand reaches through the colors; they mist around my hand. I growl out of frustration, feeling like my entire life is LITERALLY flashing before my eyes.
My body gets hot, and the images move faster. I can’t make out any places or faces; the only thing I can see are colors. I drop to my knees in despair, pulling my hair. I don’t think I can keep living like this. I need answers.
My body is jolted, and I fall forward on my hands. My body jolts again, and dizziness sets in. The darkness gets deeper, the images fading away. I sit up quickly, gasping for air. I look around the room to find three sets of eyes on me. “Mmmmom?” Her eyes get big, and her hands go to her mouth. “Dad… Uncle Blake?”
