Rising From the Ashes

Lilith was picking out her favorite navy green Victorian-style dress before she collected the eggs from the hens when one of the maids came into her chambers without knocking. " M'lady, we need you in the library immediately!", the maid said with urgency. Turning around to face the one maid she loves and trusts the most, Cassandra Marie Nightingale. "Cassy, what seems to be the matter?" Lilith responded as she grabbed the green, three-inch heels to match her dress. As she went to grab her square brush, it only made for the high priestess of the most respected coven in the world, Evangeline. "Your lordship requested your presence, he wouldn't say why," Cassy said as she grabbed her childhood friend by the arm. As Lilith was dragged to where her beloved requested her to be, she felt something was wrong. It wasn't like Claudius to ask her to be present when he dealt with coven affairs, but something had to come up for him to do so. "I wonder what is going on," Lilith thought to herself. She tried to link her mind with her love, but no luck for her, which was a surprise. Something wasn't right, she stopped in the middle of the hallway that leads to two rooms: her daughter's and the library. Lilith looked around and closed her eyes for her senses to focus fully. Realizing it was too quiet in her humble kingdom, especially when her daughter, Deepnita, would be crying for another feeding now. She picked up her pace and made a full run to Deepnita's room, almost losing her step. Using her right shoulder to barge into the room while she turned the doorknob, she ran to her daughter's crib that was across the room with the painting of their family together. With the little cot mobile still swaying above Deepnita. Lilith slowly walked over to her daughter's crib, walking past the dresser, bathing area, and changing table. As she reaches into the crib to check on her bundle of joy, she whispers "Deepnita". Holding her breath, Lilith picks up Deepnita's already cold, lifeless body. Feeling something wet from her bundle in her arms, she holds her daughter's body close to her chest to see crimson red covering her hands. Freaking out, she held her daughter's body away from her to see somebody had cut her daughter's throat. Letting out a gut-clutching scream that echoed through the halls of her home, Lilith ran to the library that was across from her daughter's room, still holding onto Deepnita, refusing to let her go. She pushed the library doors open with her back and called out to Claudius, the high priest of their coven and her lover. Running to where he normally would sit before and after any type of occasion dealing with the covens and their leaders. Reaching his chair by the fireplace they recently added to the room, she began to sob in between her words "My... Love...our...daughter...she is..." Lilith fell to her feet sobbing in agony and pain at Claudius's feet. After a few minutes of shading her sorrows, she finally screamed out the words that tore her soul apart. "Is dead....someone murdered our baby!!!". She was breaking down crying, sobbing into her child's body. After what seemed like centuries of silence, she screamed at Claudius. " DO YOU NOT HEAR ME? OUR DAUGHTER IS PERISHED. GONE, SOMEONE TOOK HER FROM US?!". Kicking his chair angrily, she hears a thud like something hitting the ground. Slowly looking to where the sound had come from. To see her beloved Claudius lying still with his eyes completely white and soulless. Knowing that someone or multiple people had cast a death spell that couldn't be reversed because of the symbols that were carved into his forehead. Crawling to her lover's body while holding onto her child's body. She laid her daughter's body down next to his. Standing up and looking around, she started to scream and sob. Cassandra and a group of people slowly merge from the shadows, laughing while they circle Lilith. Not understanding what was going on or why they betrayed them the way they did, she let out a heartbreaking scream as she pulled onto her long curly blonde hair that had been stained with blood from her hands. She cries out "WHY?!" as they chant "Es aicinu starp uguni. Es aicinu tevi vidū sodīt tevi par taviem grēkiem. Es aicinu tavā vidū sadedzināt visu, kas draudzēsies tevī manu vēlmju sirdī". Soon, flames began to go around the room while Lilith spun around with the flames. The echoes of Cassandra's voice filled the smokey, hot room. 'You think you could leave the coven without consequences? As a high priestess and priest, you two really should have known better". Cassy laughed as the others joined. Lilith only screamed out in pain while her home went up in flames. While she catches on fire, she prays to her mother, asking her for forgiveness and aid to survive this cruel attack by those she trusted with everything. Soon darkness took over as she saw a light.
