We were quiet for a few hours, both of us lost in our thoughts, only stopping to pull some jerky I made earlier out of our bags and drink some of the water from our canteens. We didn’t stop walking unless we needed a second to relieve ourselves, mostly just keeping the same pace and sticking to the trails.
