The beautiful two-story country-style house came into view just as the cab turned the last corner of the long suburban street. With the dark background of the night, the house stood out like a lighthouse at sea with all the lights on which were seen through the large windows. Mirabelle released a heavy breath and tried to gather herself. It didn’t help. No amount of breathing exercise or pep talk was going to make the next few minutes pleasant. Damn.
