The instructions were clear. Only one person was allowed to go with her. If she was late or brought an extra person, the deal was off. If she tried to double-cross him, the deal was off. And if she was stupid enough to tell anyone where she was going, the deal was off. Last but not least, pack a bag for a day or two. Mirabelle’s hand trembled slightly as she folded the pair of jeans and shoved it into the little worn-out leather bag they had dug out from the back of Kara’s closet.
