“I told you,” Mirabelle growled in frustration at her two best friends, her words and sounds both muffled by her hands. Realizing that, she lifted her head from her palms and straightened with a heavy sigh, her elbows still resting on her knees. They were all seated in Kara’s little living room. Well, Mirabelle was seated, Kara and Morris were too preoccupied in their efforts to wear a path on the floor with all the pacing they were doing. Mirabelle had already asked them twice to sit down, and it hadn’t worked. She gave up. Plus, Mirabelle thought with a mental frown, the pacing wasn’t what made her wish she could rip her hair out.
