That evening my father and sister came to visit me. They were both relieved that I had finally pulled out of my coma and were questioning Carlisle about when I could go home. He explained that he wanted to keep me overnight, one last time, to make sure my vitals stay stabilized. Then the next morning, if everything held to his standards they would take me to school and I would be going back home with Bella. My father was happy and even explained to me that if I had any trouble taking care of myself it would be fine with him if I came back to the Cullen's. Carlisle agreed to this. After dinner -which Esme was too kind to cook for us- my sister and father said good bye and left to go home for the night. The next morning Esme woke me up and said Carlisle had left for work but I was okay to go to school. She and Rosalie helped me into the oversized shower where I slowly, but surely bathed myself. When I had finished they helped me out and assisted in drying me off. Alice popped up shortly after and they helped me into Alice's large bedroom where she had several outfits laid out. I picked the dark denim with the hot pink shirt and the cropped black leather jacket. Alice even matched the outfit with a cute pair of heeled ankle boots. But I couldn't really wear them because they arched my feet and threw off my natural bone structure - which was one of the things Carlisle told me I couldn't do. So instead, I added on hot pink converse. When I had finished getting dressed I was taken downstairs to eat. Then it was time to go. All of Carlisle and Esme's kids were waiting in their oversized garage. Everyone but Edward. "You can ride with Ben, today." Alice said as her and Jasper got into the back of Emmett's large jeep. Rosalie was in the passenger seat. Ben had just started the engine to his truck. I had to cover my ears as it roared to life. He stepped down out of the truck and came around to open the passenger side. After he helped me inside he put my wheelchair in the truck bed. "Nice ride." I said as she slid inside and shut the door. He gave me a tight-lipped smile as he shifted the gear into reverse and started backing out. "So, who is Edward riding with?" I asked as we turned out of the garage. I glanced in the wing mirror to see Emmett's massive jeep following close behind us. But there was no third car. Where was Edward? "My brother is out of the state... visiting some relatives." Ben replied. I nodded my head and sat back in my seat. It wasn't until I glanced out the windows did I realize how fast he was going. "Um, maybe you should slow down. The roads are pretty slick." "This I know." He replied, his tone hard. "I just got out of a coma, Ben, and I would like to not return." My tone was just as hard. "Calm down, princess, you will be safe with me. Look," he nodded out the window, "We have safely arrived at our destination." "Prick." I muttered, as I crossed my arms. "Bitch." He replied. I glanced sideways at him. "Did I offend you or something?" I asked. He parked as close to the building as he could and shut off the engine. Turning to me he narrowed his eyes, his forehead creasing in the center. "You called me a prick." He finally said. "You called me a bitch." He chuckled, "Only after you called me a prick," he grinned. "Because you were being one!" I snapped. "And that is why I called you a b***h, Sophia. You were being a b***h!" "I most definitely was not!" I scowled at him, my face flushing a shade of crimson. "Yes you were." "No I wasn't." "Sophia... You were being a total bitch." He said nonchalantly. Just as I opened my mouth to argue back he quickly leaned over to me and pressed his lips to mine. My eyes were wide from shock at this unanticipated move. But then I felt something. Something nice. I closed my eyes and responded to his kiss, moving my lips against his slightly. Then he started kissing me back, with more heat. A fire lit deep inside me and I gasped, pulling away from him in shock. "I-I...." "Sophia?" "We should really get inside," I breathed, dragging the back of my hand across my mouth. Ben, silently got out of the truck and went around to get my wheel chair. After he helped me into the chair and hung my back pack on the back we made our way up to the school. I had to stop, halfway there because the slope was getting to me. Ben, was nice enough to push me the rest of the way inside and to the lunch room. When we entered, I looked around for my sister. She was sitting with Angela, Mike, Jessica, Tyler and Eric. They, of course, were occupied with some conversation and didn't notice me. "Do you want to sit with your sister or us?" Ben asked as me. I glanced at the Cullens' who sat at their table and then to my sister and our friends. "I should say hi to them." I replied. "Why don't you sit with us?" Did I just ask him to sit with me? What was going on? It was definitely that kiss. He was the first person I ever really kissed. Unless you counted Jackson. But I didn't... really. "Hey guys," I greeted as I rolled up to the table. Everyone at the table turned their heads. "Oh my god, I am so glad that you are alright!" Angela exclaimed. "Were you really in a coma?" Mike asked. I nodded my head. "Three months." "So, what's with the chair? Can you walk or are you stuck in it for the rest of your life?" Jessica asked. "I can walk.... sort of. For now, Dr. Carlisle wants me in a wheelchair until I finish my therapy and am well enough with my legs to walk again." I told her in a voice of confidence. "I will walk again." "Hope it is in time for the dance," Jessica replied. "What dance?" I asked. Jessica looked at me like I had just said something unpleasant. "The prom... It's in March. If I were you I would start saving up for a dress. The only decent stores are in Port Angeles." "Have you thought of who you are going to take?" I asked my sister. She shrugged her shoulders. "I was actually going to fly out to Florida to see mom. I bought my ticket... non refundable." "Well, looks like my first choice is a no-go." Mike said. Jessica's head snapped in his direction. "It's not like it is the end of the world. There are other great candidates... like me for instance." Mike turned to look at Jessica. "Would you like to go to prom with me, Jess?" He asked. Her face lit up. "Of course." "What, no one said anything about picking dates now!" Eric exclaimed. He quickly turned to Angela. "Will you go to prom with me?" He asked her. Angela's cheeks turned a faint pink as she smiled. "I'd like that," she said sincerely. Jessica turned back to Bella. "Come on, can't you go? Tyler will be your date." She nudged Tyler gently. "Won't you Tyler?" Tyler ringed his hands together nervously. It was obvious that he didn't want to take her. "I alright bought the ticket, plus it is non-refundable. Sorry Tyler," Bella said, as if it was a loss to him. "What about you, Sophia?" Jess pressed. "Are you going to Florida too, or are you going to prom?" I sat up straighter in my chair. "We have already had this conversation, remember?" "Well, then it is settled. Since you and Benedict are together-" "We aren't together!" I snapped. "Why not?" Jessica asked. "Yeah, why not?" Ben repeated as he made his presence aware. "Because, I need to get to know you more. If I'm going to put my effort into someone I want to make sure they are worth my time." I answered without missing a beat. "But we are still hanging out sometime later, right?" He asked, bringing up our old conversation. Sighing I nodded my head. "Yeah. We can talk about that later." I said to him in a small voice before giving my attention back to the group. "So, anything interesting happen while I was comatose?" "Nothing really-" Bella responded. "Yeah, only because your sister refuses to throw a party at your house." Jessica cut in. I c****d an eyebrow to her. "What are you going on about?" Bella sighed. "Dad is leaving for Hawaii tonight. Dr. Switter passed away yesterday evening and he's left some things to dad in his will so he has to meet with their lawyer and sign some papers." "He didn't say anything to me about this... Wait, how do you know Jessica?" "I asked her to stay with me while he was away. Being in that big house by myself kind of creeps me out." I cleared my throat. "So, you are telling me that dad is leaving for, what, a week tops, and you are living in one of the largest homes in Forks, and aren't throwing a party?" I asked her, a confused look on my face. Bella gave me a look of disapproval. "The longer I'm at your side, the more I am convinced that one of us was switched at birth." Turning to Jessica I grinned. "Lucky for you, that house has another teenager that technically lives in it. That teenager also loves parties and would love to host." I gave her a wink. "Yes!" Jessica chimed before she took out her phone and began texting. "I'm sending out a mass text to everyone." She said, not looking up from her phone. Once she was finished she turned to Tyler and Mike. "You two are in charge of the food and drinks." "The house has a pretty full bar already. If I can get some jello we can have some jello shots." I whispered excitedly. "Sweet!" Mike responded. "So, burgers and hot dogs?" "Woah, woah, woah.... Just stop. Dad will kill us if we have a party while he is away, especially one with alcohol." Bella cut in. I slowly turned my head in her direction. "That's why you aren't going to tell him." I crossed my arms. "Okay, and what about all the underaged dui's that will be flooding the station... You don't think the police won't ask where they got the alcohol?" I laughed. "It's called being smart. Jess, can I see your phone?" I asked her. Hesitantly she handed me her phone and I began typing out another mass text to the crowd she sent the part invite to. When I finished I handed it back. "I hope that was you canceling the party, Sophia." With a smug look on my face I shook my head. "Actually, that was me telling everyone that if they show up they will have their keys taken and locked in a safe. If they want to leave they have to pass a breathalyzer test to get their keys, if they don't pass they have to stay the night." I finished, tapping the side of my head. "That's genius." Eric said. "Oh I'm getting so wasted this weekend." Suddenly the table started talking about limits on alcohol and comparing themselves to one another while reminiscing on past drinking experiences. This chatter ended shortly when the bell rang for our first class. Around lunch time I had Jessica add that entry was the cost of a pack of soda, large bag of chips, or a chip dip. "This party is going to be so awesome, Soph. Thank goodness one of the Swan sisters is fun." Jess said as she joined my side after our last class let out. "That's just how Bella is. She gets it from our dad. Always a straight shooter, strict on rules." "You don't think she'll rat us out, do you?" Jessica asked. I glanced at my sister who was walking across the parking lot, towards her truck and shook my head. "She may be a lot of things, but she isn't a snitch. She's not one to make waves. If our dad finds out its because someone blabbed their mouths about how much they drank." Ben pulled up beside me at the curb and climbed out to help me in. "I'll see you tomorrow, Jess." I said as we pulled away. I had four days until the party. That was four days to get myself walking. There was no way I was going to spend the entire night in a wheel chair.
