“You did what?” Ortiz asked him the next day during their morning run. The whole team trained together, but Ortiz and Charlie ran together every morning at O Four Hundred. They lived a few blocks away from each other. As soon as they started running Charlie told him about his date with Catherine last night.
“I don’t know what happened. She looked up at me, begging me to kiss her and I panicked. I said I had to go and fled.” He’d never forget the confused look on her face as he left. It had been shitty of him to do but retreat had been the only thought on his mind. He didn’t do relationships. So why was he trying to pursue something with her?
“Charlie, I have known you for five years now, and I have never seen you run from anything before.”
