"But... killing an innocent," she began, her voice trembling. "Innocent? She's the mate of our enemy. Her death is necessary for our victory," Atticus retorted sharply. "Do not let emotions cloud your judgment, Serra. We are at war." Ishtar's heart pounded in her chest, fear and confusion running within her. "Are you sure this is the only way?" she asked, trying to keep her voice nder control. "Absolutely. His mate is the key to his strength. Remove her, and he becomes vulnerable," Atticus replied with conviction. Ishtar felt a wave of nausea wash over her. The idea of killing someone, even for revenge, was something she struggled to accept. But she knew that hesitation could be fatal.
