So I agreed to return to Elaina with Eyebrows and Tolman.
Xavier’s announcement to his people actually went over fairly anticlimactically. I think he shocked most of them by being so up-front and honest—er, at least what they believed to be full honesty and transparency. Neither my Graykey, nor my earthly status, was ever mentioned. But the rest—yeah—he didn’t hide anything. And that stunned most everyone quiet.
The ones who did verbalize their opinions seemed to like how he was so willing to ship me back to Elaina. They even supported the idea of keeping me alive, so as not to start any conflict with High Cliff. Some claimed I could also be called in to deliver true love’s kiss if Xavier ever fell ill.
