Chapter 3 - Past
It was easy to see on the young boy's face how sad he was.
His red eyes made him look like a bunny to the nurses that come into the room to check in his father's condition.
The man's body was completely bandaged; even his face was hard to see between the white cloth.
And like him, his son also had his arms and chest covered, even If It wasn't possible to see it through his clothes while sitting in the wheelchair.
... It was yet hard for him to move, but the boy requested to see his father. He wanted to believe he was still alive like uncle Ray and everyone had told him; therefore, the doctor didn't deny his wish, allowing the nurse to take him there...
If it wasn't something possible usually.
... Seeing this whole scene, that made the young Alpha's heartache even more...
He felt bad for being angry when the boy woke up, but his Mate did not. He wanted to blame William for it, even if he knew that none of this was true as no one knew how a Human body could react to the transformation.
Of course, if the person were between life and death, it would make things a lot easier since that seemed to be the most important key of it all.
And that was the reason why Human Mates were only turned when they were on their deathbed since Werewolves wouldn't be able to make them be in this condition as easily as Vampires and Mermaids were capable of... And even Witches had an advantage over them in that regard.
... However, like all rules, there were always a few exceptions, even in the ones created by the own Nature... And again, William was proof of that...
The boy's condition was not as bad as his father's. Still, amid his desperation when he realized that he would lose Callum, Richard did not, and before even know, he bit him too during the time that the ambulance and firefighters were on their way to the house, which was further away from the town.
Consequently, if this were a typical situation, Liam would probably be in the same condition as his father now, or even had died, scaring the young Alpha when he noticed what he had done.
So, perhaps it was the punishment from the Gods to him as the boy recovering naturally, his body accepting his new wolf side faster than anyone else who turned into a Werewolf, even if it were something William had not noticed yet.
... While on the contrary, his father remained in a coma, recovering slowly until a year had already passed since that tragic night, and no doctor, Supernatural or Human, knew why he had not yet opened his eyes again...
In this way, the only thing that proved to Richard that Callum was still alive was the annoying beep of the machine that confirmed his heartbeat and the comforting smell of his scent, which sadly now... Mingled with the one of the hospital...
